BREAKING NEWS

Steam Donkey Foul Club has relocated to Pgastan and has changed its name to Pgastan Foul Club. More on this to follow.

UPDATE: PFC president says this: "Due to the amount of donks in Pgastan it was really a no brainer to relocate to the city-state. Recruiting from Pgastan should bear some good results.

Chris Paul to Lakers

Breaking: Chris Paul is being traded to the Lakers

He was a decent fouler for the PG position, so it could be big. Last year he had 196 fouls and 9 techys for a total of 1340 pts. That's actually really good for the PG position

Lamar Odom is also being dealt to New Orleans. He had 200 fouls, 1 foul out, 4 techys and an ejection for 1320 pts.

Finally, Pau Gasol is moving to Houston as well. He had 203 fouls, 2 foul outs, and 3 techys for 1255 pts.

So some decent foulers on the move. This could be good things for New Orleans and probably Paul.

UPDATE: NBA COMMISSIONER REJECTS TRADE!

I just wanna let you know, that as commish of the National Foul Association I would never reject such a trade.

NFA Free Agency: Who will go where?

Here's a look at notable free agents in the NFA. I'll give the players name, stats from last year, and a completely random (uneducated) guess at where this player may end up.

Nene Hillario (Center) : 238 fouls, 5 FO, 7 Techy's. He'll end up in... Utah
Marc Gasol: 265 fouls (Center), 2 FO, 5 Techy's and 1 ejection. He'll end up in... Portland
David West (PF): 202 fouls, 1 FO, 6 Techy's. He'll end up in... Houston
Tyson Chandler (Center): 240 fouls, 4 FO, 7 Techy's. He'll end up in... Dallas
Glen Davis (Center, PF): 231 fouls, 4 FO, 6 Techy's. He'll end up in...Indianapolis
DeAndre Jordan (Center, PF): 255 fouls, 1 FO, 6 Techy's. He'll end up in...Chicago
Arron Afflao (SG): 155 fouls, 2 FO, 2 Techy's, 2 Flagrants. He'll end up in...New Jersey
Samuel Dalembert (C): 225 fouls, 2 FO, 5 Techy's, 1 Flagrant. He'll end up in...Detroit
Chauncey Billups (PG): 146 fouls, 1 FO, 11 Techy's. He'll end up in...Oklahoma City
Jameer Nelson (PG): 209 fouls, 1 FO, 5 Techy's, 1 Ejection. He'll end up in... New Orleans
Gerald Wallace (PF, SF): 183 fouls, 3 FO, 7 Techy's, 1 Ejection. He'll end up in... Cleveland
Matt Barnes (SG, SF): 127 fouls, 4 Techy's, 2 Ejections, 1 Flagrant. He'll end up in...Houston
Kevin Garnett (PF): 148 fouls, 1 FO, 11 Techy's, 1 Flagrant. He'll end up at...Golden State
Michael Beasley (PF, SF): 222 fouls, 3 FO, 8 Techy's, 1 Ejection. He'll end up in...Minnesota
Dwight Howard (C): 258 fouls, 4 FO, 18 Techy's, 3 Flagrants. He'll end up in Chicago
Elton Brand (PF, C): 244 fouls, 3 FO, 4 Techy's, 1 Ejection, 4 Flagrants. He'll end up in...Boston

That's just the tip of the iceberg for NFA free agents. I tried to highlight top foulers, those who performed well last season. If a fouler is in the last year of his contract, they usually step it up. Something to keep in mind when drafting, may get you an extra ejection. I'm pretty confident all my predictions will come true to where they are going to land after the NFA Free Agent Frenzy. The big money man will be Dwight Howard. It should be assumed he'll get paid $10,000 per foul last year and $100,000 per Techy. Usually players get a clause in their contract for a fouling out bonus and/or an ejection bonus. Those bonuses are usually around $250,000 per ejection and $50,000 per foul out.

The new CBA makes it difficult for teams to amass a solid group of foulers through free agency, so building Basketfoul or Foulball teams through the draft will be a must. Send your scouts to the NCAA and start looking at how foulers are fouling at the college level.

I'll try to update on where key foulers land. Until next time.

Foulers in China

News that China may block Aaron Brooks, J.R. Smith, Kenyon Martin, and Wilson Chandler among others from returning to the NFA could be huge. Brooks and Martin are All-Star Foulers and Chandler and Smith are not bad at all. None of the 4 scored over 1400 pts last year, but Brooks was a top fouler in at the PG position (or maybe Foul Guard, maybe PFG, I'll work on that.

FOUL LEAGUE IS BACK!!!!!

With the NBA (NFA- National Foul Association as we know it) lockout finally over foulers can start getting to training camp. NFA Free Agency starts Dec. 9th, so it'll be interesting to see where certain foulers go. Also with a condensed 66 game season and with not much of a warmup period before the season (training camps and exhibition games) foulers should be really rusty and may get tired towards the end of the season so we could see some records despite the short season.

The only thing I may change from last year is roster deadlines, Currently it's Weekly-Thursday because the season ends on a Wednesday, but once the final schedule comes out, I may change it to adapt to that, or we may permanently switch to Weekly-Monday. It's not a big problem, I kind of like having the roster deadline in midweek as opposed to setting it on Sunday for Monday deadline. Though, maybe Monday deadline makes more sense. We'll see.

Random Thoughts

First of all, NBA lockout will most likely cancel foul league (MICHAEL OWEN! For Manure against New England, anyway...) this year. However, NFL's version of foul league is looking good to go. Interception League has rosters of 2 QBs, 2 Kickers, 2 DEF, and 2 Bench spots. Points include incomplete passes, times sacked, interceptions, pick 6s thrown, fumbles, fumbles lost for QBs. Missed PATs and FGs for kickers, and pts and yds allowed for DEF.

As for Error League (Baseball...2-0 Manure Macheda), we need to weight blown saves a lot more, since right now it makes no sense to have a RP on your roster. Also, we need to get walks as a stat for pitchers (I thought Total Bases included walks initially, but quickly found out I was wrong). (GOAL!!! FK! FEILHABER!!!!! 2-1 Manure, deflected off Mansally).

I do not think an error league will work well for hockey, but if there's enough interest we could try (but I doubt there would be enough interest since the foul league would be going on at the same time).

Well, that's it for now. Good luck to the USWNT in the World Cup final on Sunday!

5. No Blood No Foul               8795  pts

8. Javy Sense                            7445  pts

And now the End of the season Donkies and Most Valuable Fouler!

The Donkey for Most Fouls goes to...
Demarcus Cousins of Sacremento with 332 Fouls

The Donkey for the Most Foul Outs goes to...
Demarcus Cousins of Sacremento with 10 Foul Outs

The Donkey for the Most Technical Fouls goes to...
Dwight Howard of Orlando with 18 Techys

The Donkey for Most Flagrant Fouls goes to...
Elton Brand of Philadelphia with 4

The Donkey for Most Ejections goes to...
A 3-way tie between Demarcus Cousins (SAC), Richard Hamilton (DET), and Craig Smith (LAC) all with 3 ejections.

And finally....

The Donkey for Most Valuable Fouler (MVF), the most prestigious award (so far) for foul league, goes to......

Demarcus Cousins (SAC). He totaled 332 fouls, 10 foul outs, 14 techys, and 3 ejections (no flagrants) for a grand total of 3120 fantasy points (Beating out 2nd place Dwight Howard by an amazing 630 pts).

That's a wrap for now. I may post on stuff for baseball, but no guarantees. Hopefully the NBA doesn't lock out "We need our foul league!" Also, we are probably gonna try a donk league for football, (assuming there is a season) as well. We've already run into problems with baseball scoring, but that ws to be expected since this is the first year we are doing it. Also, football could be a head-to-head format, instead of just pure points, something to think about.

Until next year: May your fouls be flagrant and your ejections many!

OH YES HE DID!

Team: "OH NO HE DIDNT!" has just set the single night scoring record with 410 points. He also is the first team to get 2 ejections in one night. Ejections from Marc Gasol (190 pts) and Hedo Turkoglu (195 pts) were his big contributions to this record night. 15 pts from Pau Gasol and 5 pts from Ben Gordon and David Lee round out his 410 pts.

Now we have to wait and see if this score stands or if the NBA will review and eventually take away one or both of the ejections. But for now, it's a record!

Big Night for the League in General

Februray 23, 2011, crazy night for the league in terms of points. As I wait for the Lakers/Blazers game to finish, I'll mention the teams that have no players in that game. What we do know is that 5 of the 8 teams have scored over 100 pts. The teams that did not break 100 have no players playing in th Lakers/Blazers game.

No Blood No Foul had only 35 (7 PFs) points, TheTeamThabeet had 40 (8 PFs) points, and Floor Violation had 85 points (17 PFs).

Javy Sense had 105 pts (13 PFs, and 1 techy)

Baltimore Hitsquad had 145 pts (13 PFs and 2 techys)

Rodman'sWeddingDress had 155 points, amazingly al from personal fouls, 31 of them to be exact, which I am pretty sure is a record for most personal fouls in a night by a team.

Steam Donkey FC had 185 points (17 PFs, 1 FO, 1 Techy). I got 130 pts from Amare who fouled out with a techy.

Finally, OH NO HE DIDNT! had 230 points (18 PFs, 1 FO, 2 Techys, and 1 Flagrant). Pau Gasol fouled out with a techy for 130 pts. (Ben Gordon's flagrant was taken away this morning).

Amazing night, all the totals in the league would add up to 980.

Until next time.

The Midseason Donkies

We here (well I here) at Flagrant Ideals will be giving out awards for the most in each statisical category so far in the league, so at the All-Star Break the Donkies go to...

The Donkey for Most Fouls...
Amir Johnson of the Toronto Raptors with 211 Fouls, just beating out Demarcus Cousins with 210 fouls.

The Donkey for most Foul Outs goes to...
It's a 3-way tie. Demarcuse Cousins, Serge Ibaka, and Andris Biedrins each with 6 foul outs.

The Donkey for Most Technical Fouls goes to...
Also a 3-way tie, with Dwight Howard, Amar'e Stoudemire, and Stephen Jackson all with 14 techys.

The Donkey for most Flagrant Fouls goes to...
Elton Brand with 3.

And finally, the Donkey for most ejections goes to...
Richard Hamilton, with 3 ejections.

And there you have it, with so many statistical categories so close together, I doubt the end of the season Donkies will look exactly like this one.

'Til next time.

All-Donk Teams

In honor the NBA All-Star game (well not really in honor, more of no foulers playing the next few days and I dont want to follow real stats inthe NBA) I am going to create the All-Donk Teams. Being that I have no better way of doing it, it's basically going to be the top fantasy point scorers in our league by position for each conference. Without further Adu (lol) here they are....

East:
PG- Jameer Nelson
SG- Stephen Jackson
SF- Paul Pierce
PF- Amare Stoudemire
C- Dwight Howard

West:
PG- Baron Davis
SG- Kobe Bryant
SF- Carmelo Anthony
PF- DeMarcus Cousins
C- Tyson Chandler

Points were really close for a lot of the positions, so there are quite a few honorable mentions, but I won't be naming them.

Agree with these selections?

Coming Sunday, the Midseason Donkies, where we will hand out awards for performances in each statisitcal category in the league.

Rodman's Big Day

Rodman'sWeddingDress broke the single day record (at least for this year when we really started keeping track of records. I dont thnik anyone scored this many points last year, but I could be wrong). His team scored a whopping 365 points. Lead by Demarcus Cousins whose double techy ejection plus 4 fouls gave him 200 points. Dwight Howard contributed a flagrant plus 3 personals and Melo added 1 foul plus a techy. Rounded off by Arenas' 2 fouls and Amir Johnson's 3, which adds up toe 365 fantasy points.Totals then wre 13 PFs, 3 techys, 1 ejection, 1 flagrant. Incredible.

Error League

So, Yahoo Fantasy Baseball is now up and I have created error league. The folowing stat cats are all being considered:

Batters:
Caught Stealing (4)
Strikeouts (1)
Ground Into Double Play (2)
Errors (3)
Catcher Interference (5)

Pitchers:
Losses (6)
Hits (1)
Runs (or Earned Runs) (2)
Walks (3)
Hit Batters (7)
Wild Pitches (5)
Balks (10)
Stolen Bases Allowed (4)
Inheirited Runners Scored (8)
Blown Saves (9)

The numbers next to them denote how frequent they occur in a gme with 1 being the most. The rankings could be wrong being that I just eyeballed some of them, but it should be pretty close. The rankings will be needed to determine how much each category will be worth point-wise.

My next few posts will probably be related to Error League. I'll post on Foul League during the All-Star Break with the Donkies and All-Donk Team.

Mamma Red Cows

Baltimore Beatdown:

That's Baltimore Hitsquad (not the city). The 2nd place team, Baltimore Hitsquad (Bmore for short), has just pulled off an unprecedent 455 pts in 2 nights. On Friday, Feb 4th, he got 19 personal fouls, 1 techy, and 2 flagrants for an astouding 295 pts (The league record for the year (and most likely the league history is 325 by No Blood No Foul when Gerald Wallace had a foul out with 2 techys resulting in an ejection). The beatdown didn't stop on Friday, the riot continued into Saturday, when Bmore got 16 fouls and 2 techys for 160 pts.  Amazingly he has gained 340 pts on first place over the last 2 days but is still 830 pts behind 1st place. Though, just as I (Steam Donkey FC), closed the gap from 3rd to 2nd to under 100 pts, I am now 445 behind 2nd.

On the other side of the standings, OH NO HE DIDNT! has finally jumped out of the cellar, leading 8th place by 10 pts (or one personal foul). He has 310 pts to make up on 6th though.

First place, which was all but wrapped up by Rodman's Wedding Dress, may now be up for grabs. However, most likely he'll win the league, but a few more nights like these and the Baltimore can ride this beatdown all the way to a league title.

Player Profile: Amar'e Stoudemire

I drafted Amare 7th overall (2nd overall among those who actually showed up for the draft). He has been a pretty good donk for his career since we started doing foul league and he is continuing his donk form this year as well. In 2009-2010 season he finished with 281 fouls, 2 foul outs, 13 techys, and 3 flagrants and in 2008-2009 season he had 163 fouls, 1 foul out, 10 techys, and 2 ejections. 2009-2010 season averages were as follows: 3.4 FPG and 0.2 techys with 0s for the other categories. In 2008-2009 he averaged 3.1 FPG and 0.2 techys with 0s for the other categories as well.

He is currently 3rd overall in points (behind Dwight Howard and Demarcus Cousins). He currently has 161 fouls, 1 foul out, and 13 techys. He is averaging 3.7 FPG and 0.3 techys per game, with 0.0 FO, Ejections, and Flagrants per game.

He is definitely an MVF candidate as well. Speaking of MVF, I have decided to do awards at the end of the season tentatively called "The Donkies" with an award given to the fouler who leads each statistical category in our league. Also, MVF will be given to the best fouler (i.e. most likely the fouler with the most points at the end of the season). Finally, I may do something like 1st and 2nd team All-Around Donks (like 1st team All-American).

'Til next time. Keep fouling y'all

Player Profile: Dwight Howard

Since the inception of foul league (this is the 2nd official year, though I tested this concept out 3 years ago), the team with Dwight Howard has not only won the league, but ran away with it. This year is no exception. He is no doubt the MVF (Most Valuable Fouler) in the NBA, and he has the stats to back it up. Last year, I took Dwight number 1 overall and ended up winning the league by 2215 points. This year, Dwight went 5th overall (because only 3 people showed up for the draft and the 5th pick was the first person who was actually there) and the team with Howard is leading the league by 1010 points.

This year Dwight has 143 PFs, 2 FO, 13 techys, and 1 flagrant. You'd think someone with 13 techys would get 2 in a game and thus an ejection, but nope, it hasn't happened yet. He is averaging 3.4 FPG and 0.3 techy's per game. In fact, during the begining of the season, it seemed like he was averaging a techy every 2 or 3 days, but it's more like a techy every week.

For comparison's sake, Dwight average 3.5 FPG and 0.2 techys per game last year totaling 287 fouls, 4 foul outs, and 16 techys. So, did Dwight come out of the gate on fire only to cool down or will he continue this torid pace of fouling? He is on the inside track to what should definitely be another MVF season, though some other players may have something to say, since MVF race is no where close to being over.

I'll make a post during the All-star break of leading MVF candidates, until then...

Once a Foul, Always a Foul

It recently came to my attention that the NBA can take away fouls (techys and flagrants) after the league office reviews about them (if you don't believe me just search for fouls in the NBA rule book on nba.com). Anyway, I finally relinquished 2nd place in the league about a week ago, but Monday morning I was further behind then I thought I should be. I discovered on Thursday, after looking at total stats that I only had 2 flagrant fouls, when I know I have had 4. I looked at stat corrections and wa-la. I saw 1 flagrant taken away (not sure what happened to the other) and at least 1 techy taken away.

Anyway, I just think the NBA should leave flagrant fouls and technical fouls similar to how soccer refs always stand by their calls. I mean you don't see the league taking away points, rebounds, steals, or assists weeks after the game. Or at the very least if a player appeals a foul or the league deems it wasn't a techy or flagrant, yahoo should keep the fouls in fantasy basketball as how they were called in the actual game.

Just some thoughts.

Until next time.

Player Profile: Gerald Wallace

I have to start the player profiles with the current record holder of best fantasy night in foul league. I believe it was in November, Wallace fouled out and then got ejected via 2 techys. This gave him a whopping 270 points (Of course it has just come to my attention that the best night would be a foul out from 2 flagrants which would result in an ejection. You would get 390 points for that).

Anyway, Wallace has 86 personal fouls, 2 foul outs, 6 technicals and 1 ejection. He is averaging 2.7 fouls per game (FPG), 0.1 foul outs per game (FOPG), 0.2 Techys per game, 0.0 ejections and flagrant fouls per game.

His stats are decent, but having no flagrants can be a downside. Looking back at the last 2 previous seasons, he averaged roughly those same stats, so he is right where he should be. He had 6 techys last season and 8 the season before that. So he may be reaching his special fouls ceiling, but then again he could be on track for a career year.

Not sure who I'll profile next, might talk about the brawl in LA last weekend. Until the next post,

Welcome to Foul League

Thank you for joining Foul League and playing in the School of Hard Knocks League.

First Thoughts:

As i posted in the league just a few minutes ago, it has come to my attention that the league office can reclassify flagrants and technicals (techys) and take them away or grant new ones (according to official NBA rules).

Not sure where this blog is gonna go. I may do a weekly feature of best player in the past week (of our season (Thursday to Wed). I'll talk about top free agents in our league (perhaps) or other fouling trends going on.

Any suggestions on how to improve this blog will be useful as well. Plus we are probably going to do an error league in baseball and some kind of football league, so I will talk about those as well.

Thanks again

"May your fouls be flagrant and your ejections many!"
