Week 19 Roundup: Promotion and Relegation Edition

As I kept getting news about certain foulers getting injured and having no timetable of return or getting rested because teams are tanking for higher draft picks, it hit me that NFA needs Promotion and Relegation in order to give these teams an incentive to play. It's ironic because American sports are pretty socialist if you think about it while European soccer system is very capitalistic. I mean you would have to get rid of the whole drafting system and go for developmental leagues/academies but that could clean up the NCAA. Anyway, this is all just to make sure top foulers play more in the end of hte season instead of getting benched or taking their time to get back from an injury.

Let's get to this week's update.

Stat Corrections:
- Paul George had a techy given to him retroactive to January 10th. Pgastan FC had him active this week so he gains 40 points.
*********This techy was taken away from Paul George in Week 14 and now added back. What is th Performance Foul Adjustment Board doing? #OnceAFoulAlwaysAFoul**************
- Evan Turner had a techy taken away from him retroactive to January 21st. Ohsnappers!!! had him active that week so he loses 40 points.
- Jaren Jackson Jr. had a techy taken away from him retroactive to January 30th. Pgastan FC had him active this week so he loses 40 points.
- Russell Westbrook had a techy taken away form him retroactive to February 5th. Gamblor had him active that week so he loses 40 points.
- Jusuf Nurkic had a techy taken away from him retroactive to February 7th. Oww Ming's Flagrants did not have him active that week so he does not lose 40 points.
- Russell Westbrook had a techy taken away form him retroactive to February 11th. Gamblor had him active that week so he loses 40 points.

- GG Foulin' added John Collins and dropped Kenneth Faried on February 23rd.
- GG Foulin' added Terrance Ferguson and dropped John Collins on February 23rd.
- Pgastan FC added Jae Crowder on February 23rd.

Standings as of February 25, 2019:

1. Pgastan FC - 10090 (+430)
2. GG Foulin' - 8850 (+240)
3. Oww Ming's Flagrants -8090  (+140)
4. Rodman'sWeddingDress - 7970 (+355)
5  Arlington Assaulters - 7280 (+235)
6. Gamblor - 6995 (+405)
7. F'N FLOPPERS - 6950 (+350)
8. Baltimore Hitsquad - 6805 (+180)
9. Ohsnappers!!! - 5925 (+335)

<= 195 points: Horrible week
200-295 points: Poor week
300-395 points: Average week
400-495 Points: Great Week
500-595 Points: Excellent Week
>=600 points: Amazing week

Keeping in mind this was another abbreviated week due to the Donk-Star Break, the normal points per week superlatives probably don't apply but I will do my best in this write up. Ohsnappers!!! had a great week scoring 335 points but still finds himself well in last place and has yet to join the 6000 point club. Baltimore Hitsquad put up 180 points in this shortened week but falls from 6th to 8th place. F'N FLOPPERS had 350 points this week but stays in 7th. Gamblor had 405 points and moves from 8th to 6th. Arlington Assaulters put up 235 points in this shortened week but stays in 5ht place.

Rodman'sWeddingDress put up 355 points this week but stays in 4th. Oww Ming's Flagrants had 140 points this week and remains in 3rd. GG Foulin' put up 240 and stays in 2nd. Pgastan FC had a nice week of 430 points and extends his lead as well as the first to join the 10,000 point club this season.

Week 18 Roundup: GM Meetings Edition

*******This is Post 200 of the Blog!********

After sitting into some intense GM Meetings between Pgastan FC and Baltimore Hitsquad, I can only share so much due to a non-disclosure agreement they had me sign. They basically just talked about general strategy and the direction of the league. Unfortunately, didn't give me much substance for my future book Foulerball.

Now this week is a little weird because of the Donk-Star Break Yahoo! treats week 17 and 18 as one but we have never done that in the NFA. For instance, there are a few stat corrections as of now (could be more later) but those will be applied next week at the end of this double week.

Finally, given that this is the Donk-Star Break, decided to do a quick back of the envelope porjection on where Foul Teams are projected to finish.

On-Pace Standings as of Donk-Star Break (Rounding to Nearest 5 Points)
1. Pgastan FC - 12630
2. GG Foulin' - 11260
3. Oww Ming's Flagrant's - 10395
4. Rodman'sWeddingDress - 9960
5. Arlington Assaulters - 9210
6. Baltimore Hitsquad - 8665
7. F'N FLOPPERS - 8655
8. Gamblor - 8620
9. Ohsnappers!!! - 7310

Now of course, the above projections are based on current Week 18 Standings and could change, but this gives Foul Clubs an idea of where they might finish in terms of total points. With the NFA Trade Deadlin in 10 days, now would be the time to start thinking of GM Trades. It is my understanding that Pgastan FC and Baltimore HItsquad didn't really discuss trades during their recent meetings but doesn't mean they won't trade (but probably does).

Let's get to this week's post, shall we?

Stat Corrections:
- As stated in the intro, stat corrections for this week will be applied next week due to the double week that Yahoo! has.

Transactions:
- GG Foulin' added Marquese Chriss and dropped John Colins on February 17th.

Standings as of February 18, 2019:

1. Pgastan FC - 9660 (+275)
2. GG Foulin' - 8610 (+225)
3. Oww Ming's Flagrants -7950  (+295)
4. Rodman'sWeddingDress - 7615 (+140)
5  Arlington Assaulters - 7045 (+195)
6. Baltimore Hitsquad - 6625 (+180)
7. F'N FLOPPERS - 6620 (+255)
8. Gamblor - 6590 (+220)
9. Ohsnappers!!! - 5590 (+150)

<= 195 points: Horrible week
200-295 points: Poor week
300-395 points: Average week
400-495 Points: Great Week
500-595 Points: Excellent Week
>=600 points: Amazing week

Given that this was only a 4 day week the usual ratings of scores per week above probably doesn't apply, but I'm going to leave it there anyway.

Ohsnappers!!! only managed 150 points in this short week but that's probably not far off his normal 7-day week pace anyway given how his season is going. Gamblor had a respectable 220 but fell to 8th place because F'N FLOPPERS put up 255 which was enough to jump him in the tight battle for 6th. Baltimore Hitsquad hols onto 6th by a mere 5 points after only scoring 180 this week. Arlington Assaulters put up 195 and remains firm in 5th place.

Rodman'sWeddingDress put up 140 points and stays in 4th place. Oww Ming's Flagrants put up 295 and remains in 3rd place. GG Foulin' put up 225 and stays in 2nd place and Pgastan FC put up 275 points and stays in 1st.

2018-2019 Midseason Donkies

As we have reached this years Donk-Star Break, it only means one thing! Time for the Midseason Donkies!

Posting this a little early this weekend as I have been invited to sit in on GM meetings between Pgastan FC and Baltimore Hitsquad this weekend (a la Michael Lewis and Moneyball). Hopefully, this helps me with a chapter of Foulerball (whenever I get around to writing it).

The Roger Murdock Persistent Fouling Award (Most Personal Fouls):
Jaren Jackson Jr. leads the league at the break with 220 personal fouls

The Shawn Kemp Award (Most Foul Outs):
Jusuf Nurkic currently leads the league with 7 foul outs

The Rasheed Wallace Legacy Award (Most Technical Fouls):
Russell Westbrook leads the league with 13 Technical Fouls

The Charles Oakley Award (Most Flagrant Fouls):
Joel Embiid leads the league at the break with 3 Flagrants

The Dennis Rodman Award (Most Ejections)
T.J. Warren and Patrick Beverley  are tied for the league lead with 2 ejections each

Donkies by Position  Note Stat Lines below are: (Personal Fouls-Foul Outs-Techies-Ejections-Flagrants):

PG: Russell Westbrook with 1535 points (167-3-13-0-0)

SG: Patrick Beverely with 2075 points (203-5-12-2-1)

SF: Paul George with 1365 points (158-1-7-0-0)

PF: Jaren Jackson Jr. with 1555 points (220-6-3-0-0)

C: Karl-Anthony Towns with 1695 points (211-6-7-0-0)

*Positions are based on actual depth charts

6th Man Award (Highest Point total for a fouler who went undrafted): Jaren Jackson Jr. with 1555 points (220-6-3-0-0)

Midseason Most Valuable Fouler (MVF): Patrick Beverely with 2075 points (203-5-12-2-1)

Being that an excellent full season is cracking 2000 points and that I believe in the past you may get around 5 per year that do that, I had to look up the history of the Midseason Donkies to see if this is the first time it has happened at the Donk-Star Break. I feel like it has happened once but let's find out shall we?

So, dating back to the  2012-2013 season in which the first Midseason MVF award appeared it has happened once in the 2016-2017 when (you guessed it) DeMarcus Cousins had 2135 points (203-4-17-2-0)

There were 3 foulers that cracked 2000 points for the entire season last year, while 6 did it in the 2016-2017 season. Cousins scored 2730 Points that week, which is a league record.

In the 2013-14 Season 4 Foulers cracked 2000 points
In the 2014-15 Season 4 Foulers cracked 2000 points
In the 2015-16 Season 3 Foulers cracked 2000 points
In the 2016-17 Season 6 Foulers cracked 2000 points
In the 2017-18 Season 3 Foulers cracked 2000 points

Well that's it for now. Be sure to check back on Monday for a regular weekly roundup.
