Week 6 Roundup: Team Strength Check-In Part 1

I have done this in the past and as of late only do this during the Mid-season Donikies but after talking to some fellow Foul Club GM's during the Thanksgiving meetings this came up in a few separate conversations so decided now would be a good time. I am debating if I will do this every month as well so like the big analysis posts this will be posted with some regularity Think of the Monthly Analysis Blowout posts as the World Cup and these Team Strength Check-Ins as the Euro. For the uninitiated, these posts just merely list the number of foulers one club has in the top 25. I may expand that number but I'll stick with 25 for now and we'll see how this goes. I am listing the clubs in order of standings as of this post as well.

So you can see a few patterns right off the bat. The top 3 foul clubs each have 4 top 25 foulers, followed by 3 for the next 2 foul clubs then it thins out. Until, 8th Place, Ohsnappers!!! who has 3 foulers in the top 25. This leads me to believe they are in 8th place because they are not doing a good job at managing their lineup every week or possibly they picked them up a few weeks into the season after a poor draft. One final thing to note about this list is that if you take the time to add up the numbers of foulers listed above it only adds up to 24. That's because the 19th ranked fouler, Dwayne Dedmon, is a free agent. He isn't getting a lot of minutes and has an ejection that is probably inflating his points but we'll see if anyone picks him ip after this post is published. The clock is running....

F'N FLOPPERS had an excellent week of 575 points (buoyed by 390 points on the day before Thanksgiving thanks to 2 ejections that night) but they remain in last place. Ohsnappers!!! had an average week of 350 points and stays in 8th place. Oww Ming's Flagrants had an average week of 375 points and stays in 7th place. Baltimore Hitsquad had a poor week of 220 points and falls from 5th to 6th place. Gamblor had an average week of 300 points and drops 1 spot to 5th place. 

 

Arlington Assaulters had an excellent week of 585 points and moves up 2 spots from 6th to 4th place. Rodman'sWeddingDress had a great week of 460 points and stays in 3rd. Pgastan FC had a great week of 470 points and stays in 2nd place. GG Foulin' had an amazing week of 715 points and stays in 1st place.

Had some movement this week so the tiers change. First off, F'N FLOPPERS big week brings him up to a tier with other foul clubs for the first time this season. I could have nitpicked and split up tier 3 with AA in a tier by themselves since they are fouling above league average finally, but they are clearly in the tier with Gamblor and Baltimore Hitsquad. Last change this week is GG Foulin' separating themselves from the pack and going into a brand new championship tier.

Week 5 Roundup: Central Time Edition

I'm coming from the greatest time zone in the world today, US Central Time! Don't have much more of an intro than that so let's get right to this week's post!

F'N FLOPPERS continues to be a basement dweller with a poor week of 220 points finding themselves stuck in 9th place. Ohsnappers!!! had a horrible week of 175 points and drops to 8th place. Perennial powerhouse Oww Ming's Flagrants is looking to continue rebounding from their slow start. They had an average week of 345 points and move up to 7th. Arlington Assaulters continues their ascent from their own slow start with a great week of 405 points.Baltimore Hitsquad, one of hte early powerhouse legacy teams, had the best week with an excellent week of 555 points and moves up to 5th place. 

Gamblor had a poor week of 230 points but stays in 4th place. Rodman'sWeddingdDress had an average week of 395 points and stays in 3rd place. Pgastan FC had a great week of 460 points and stays in 2nd place. GG Foulin' had a great week of 335 points and maintains a small lead of 35 points in 1st place.

We got 5 tiers this week, though obviously still subjective on my part a little bit. F'N FLOPEPRS clearly is in the bottom tier, that's easy. Oww Ming's Flagrants and Ohsnappers in the next tier (clearly seen in the graph). This is where it got a little tricky. I decided to put Arlington Assaulters in tier 3 all by themselves. They are the last team fouling below the league average even though they are only 125 points behind the Hitsquad. Speaking of which, they join Gamblor who took a precipitous fall from the top tier of last week to tier 2. Finally, I lumped Rodman'sWeddingDress in with the top 2 foul clubs as they are only 105 points behind PFC but 215 points ahead of Gamblor.

Week 4 Roundup: 1st Month Analysis Blowout!

It's that time again! Time for our first analysis blowout post! Well, there's a lot to cover this week so let's get right to it.

Stat Corrections

- Markieff Morris was credited with an ejection retroactive to November 8th. Pgastan FC had him active that week so he gains 100 points.

How you miss an ejection is beyond me. My sources tell me Pgastan FC GM was in constant contact with Yahoo! to try and rectify the issue. Perhaps the official scorers need a Fouling 101 refresh. Did they not know a Flagrant 2 is an automatic ejection? Anyway, with that stat correction, Pgastan FC scored a whopping 400 points on Monday, November 8th. They were only a techy away from a team cycle as well. His final line that night is now 20-2-0-1-1 (PF-DQ-T-F-E).

Pretty high scoring week for the league overall. F'N FLOPPERS was not one of them as they only had an average week of 365 points and stays in last place. Oww Ming's Flagrants also had an average week scoring 370 points and falls from 5th to 8th. Ohsnappers!!! had a great week of 485 points but stays in 7th place. Baltimore Hitsquad had an average week of 485 points and stays in 6th place. Arlington Assaulters had an amazing week of 620 points and moves up from 8th place to 5th as they continue their ascendancy after a slow start.

 

Gamblor had an excellent week of 570 points but actually falls from 2nd to 4th. Rodman'sWeddingDress had an amazing week of 670 points but surprisingly stays in 3rd place. Pgastan FC had an amazing week of 820 points and moves up from 4th to 2nd. Finally, GG Foulin' had an amazing week of 640 points and stays in first.

So first of all, I am leaving that spot for last month's Avg PPG so I don't forget to add it for month 2. A few things to note from the above. First is that the games played is relatively close for everyone only ranging from 86 to 93. Also by this metric, Gamblor is under performing and should be in 2nd place, Pgastan FC is over performing and should be in 3rd and Rodman'sWeddingDress is over performing and should be in 4th. The rest of the league is fouling at expected value.

So by that method GG Foulin' is still projected to win the league after 4 weeks. It's the next 3 Foul Clubs (like points per game metric) that things get different. Pgastan FC is projected to finish 4th, Rodman'sWeddingDress 3rd and Gamblor 2nd. Actually, Baltimore Hitsquad is projected to finish in 5th, Oww Ming's Flagrants in 6th, Ohsnappers!!! in 7th and Arlington Assaulters in 8th. Oh and F'N FLOPPERS is projected to finish in last place, but that's no surprise.

So after 4 weeks we have just 3 tiers but they are pretty distinct. Clearly in the bottom tier is F'N FLOPPERS. Then in Tier 2 you have the next 4 teams kind of jumbled up with each other. What's interesting is that the league average is clearly the dividing line between tiers 1 and 2. But of course it's still early so need a little larger sample size. But it's never too early to start analyzing!
