Week 1 Through 9 Points Graph

Here's an updated graph of the NFA standings for you visual learners out there:

Week 9 Roundup: Holiday Edition

It's early so I can't think of a clever intro to this post, so let's take a look at the past week of NFA action:

 Stat Corrections:

Marc Gasol had a technical foul taken away retroactive to December 7th but he was a free agent then so it does not affect NFA standings.

Standings as of December 29, 2014:

1. Baltimore Hitsquad- 4300  (+520)
2. Rodman'sWeddingDress- 4215 (+825)
3. They Call Me Gamblor- 4085 (+595)
4. Arlington Assaulters- 4075 pts (+350)
5. F'N FLOPPERS 3775 (+360)
6. Pgastan FC- 3770 (+325)
7. Oww Ming's Flagrants 3230 (+250)
8. Dis is dat Donk Ball- 2985 (+440)

Let's start the analysis from the bottom shall we? Dis is dat Donk Ball and Oww Ming's Flagrants remain in hte basement of hte league with the former still the only team to not crack 3000 points. Pgastan FCs had a spectacular fall from 2nd place 2 weeks ago (3rd last week) to 6th place now, though that's been the nature of the NFA this year. F'N FLOPPERS is only 5 points ahead of Pgastan FC as of this post but is 300 points behind 4th place Arlington Assaulters. However, They Call Me Gamblor is only 10 points ahead of Arlington Assaulters. The biggest move of the week was done by Rodman'sWeddingDress who scored a whopping 825 points to move from 6th to 2nd and is only 85 points behind still first place Baltimore Hitsquad. That 825 points in one week by Rodman'sWeddingDress is probably some sort of record, don't feel like researching it but I can't recall any team scoring over 725 in a week since I started doing these updates.

Transactions:

-F'N FLOPPERS added Nick Young and dropped Brandon Jennings on December 22nd
-Dis is dat Donkball added Arron Afflalo and dropped Monta Ellis on December 22nd
-Pgastan FC added DaMarre Carroll and dropped Kevin Durant on December 27th
-Pgastan FC added PJ Tucker and dropped Dirk Nowtizki on December 28th
-Pgastan FC added DaMarre Carroll and dropped Kevin Durant on December 27th

On further review it looks like you can still edit your lineup until the first game tips on the Monday of each week but if you add a player on Monday it will not be in your lineup until the following week.

That's it for now.

Week 8 Roundup: Huge Movement in the Association

There was substantial movement in the NFA standings this week which I will get to in a second, but this got me thinking as some players scored massive points in the 7 day time frame.

A total of 8 players scored over 200 points this past week alone with all but one belonging to foul clubs (though 2 were free agents last week but have sinced been picked up). Those players in order of Points scored are:

2. Kenneth Faried (They Call Me Gamblor)- 295 pts (17 PFs, 1 FO, 2 Techies, and 1 Flaggy)
3. Markieff Morris (Baltimore Hitsquad)-  260 pts (8 PFs, 3 Techies, and 1 Ejection)
4. Samuel Dalembert (Free Agent)- 220 pts (8 PFs, 1 Ejection, and 1 Flaggy)
5. Nick Young (F'N FLOPPERS, Free Agent last week)- 215 pts (7 PFs, 1 Ejection, and 1 Flaggy)
6. Alex Len (Dis is dat Donk Ball, Free Agent last week)- 215 pts (15 PFs, 1 FO, and 1 Flaggy)
7. DeAndre Jordan (Arlington Assaulters)- 205 pts (17 PFs, 1 Techy, and 1 Flaggy)
8. Trevor Booker (Arlington Assaulters)- 200 pts (4 PFs, 2 Techies, and  1 Ejection)

Without further adieu, let's take a look at this past week:

Stat Corrections:

There were no stat corrections in week 8.

Standings as of December 22, 2014:

1. Baltimore Hitsquad- 3780  (+500)
2. Arlington Assaulters- 3725 pts (+665)
3. They Call Me Gamblor- 3490 (+425)
4. Pgastan FC- 3445 (+355)
5. F'N FLOPPERS 3415 (+625)
6. Rodman'sWeddingDress- 3390 (+420)
7. Oww Ming's Flagrants 2980 (+420)
8. Dis is dat Donk Ball- 2545 (+320)

Some big weeks by some Foul Clubs saw to some changes in the standings. Arlington Assaulters swaps places with Pgastan FC (from 4th to 2nd) while leapfrogging They Call Me Gamblor who stays in 3rd place. F'N FLOPPERS and Rodman'sWeddingDress also swap places (5th and 6th). Baltimore Hitsquad has seen his lead dwindle to just 55 points, but remains in 1st place. Rounding out the bottom are Oww Ming's Flagrants and Dis is dat Donk Ball.

Transactions:

-Dis is dat Donkball added Alex Len and dropped Kirk Hinrich on December 19th
-Dis is dat Donkball added Shawne Williams and dropped PJ Tucker on December 19th
-Dis is dat Donkball added Jamal Crawford  and dropped Shawne Williams on December 19th

Huge Night in the Association Yesterday

Four teams scored over 100 points yesterday, with three of those scoring over 200, incredible!

Oww Ming's Flagrants scored 160 points with 100 of those coming from Larry Sanders who had 4 fouls plus a flaggy. That flaggy subsequently got him suspended for the game tonight.

First Place squad, Baltimore Hitsquad, scored 235 points last night with 195 coming from a DTE by Markieff Morris.

Arlington Assaulters scored a whopping 250 points, which saw him move up into 2nd place. He got 190 points from a Trevor Booker DTE with the rest of his team scoring a measly 60 points.

Finally, F'N FLOPPERS also scored 250 points but getting more balanced production. He got a foul out from Andre Drummond and Amir Johnson (both scoring 90 points), while also getting a techy from Darrell Arthur for 65 points.Rajon Rondo got the other 5 points for his team.

For the record, the other teams scored the following:

Pgastan FC: 65
Rodman'sWeddingDress:65
They Call Me Gamblor: 25
Dis is dat Donk Ball: 70

So a total of 1,120 points were scored last night in the Association.

Until the next post, Keep Foulin' Y'all!

Week 7 Roundup: Sullinger's Histoic 3 games

Yahoo Posted this in Jared Sullinger's player notes section on Sunday:

"Jared Sullinger is one of the main reasons why the Celtics are on a three-game losing streak, as he is averaging more fouls per game (3.7) than points (3.3) in that stretch."

That's pretty impressive, more fouls per game than points, the only problem with this quote is that they are calling it a problem. We all know that in NFA this is a glorious thing!

Also, it appears that Yahoo will let you change your lineup on Monday until the first game of the week tips off as opposed to locking at 2 AM Central time (Midnight Pacific) as it has in the first 5 years of NFA.

Anyway, let's take a look at what has transpired in the NFA over the past 7 days.

Stat Corrections:

There were a total of 4 stat corrections, 2 of which were on players owned by NFA franchises/

-Ben McLemore had a Personal Foul taken away retroactive to December 11th. F'N FLOPPERS had him active that week so he loses 5 points.
-DeAndre Jordan was given a Techy retroactive to November 2nd. Arlington Assaulters had him active that week so he gains 40 points.

Standings as of December 15, 2014:

1. Baltimore Hitsquad- 3280  (+490)
2. Pgastan FC- 3090 (+490)
3. They Call Me Gamblor- 3065 (+545)
4. Arlington Assaulters- 3060 pts (+585)
5. Rodman'sWeddingDress- 2970 (+455)
6. F'N FLOPPERS 2790 (+435)
7. Oww Ming's Flagrants 2560 (+340)
8. Dis is dat Donk Ball- 2225 (+360)

Arlington Assaulters gained the most points this week and as a result swapped places with Rodman'sWeddingDress. AA is only 5 points behind of TCMG and TCMG is only 25 points behind PFC. Very tight race for 2nd in NFA at the moment. Baltimore Hitsquad remains in 1st place with a 190 point lead on PFC, both teams having gained 490 points this week. At the other end of the standings, F'N FLOPPERS gaints 95 points on Oww Ming's Flagrants to further distance them from 7th place, while Dis is dat Donk Ball is bringing up the rear with a measly 2225 points.

Transactions:

-Baltimore Hitsquad added Kendrick Perkins and dropped Greg Monroe on December 10th
-F'N FLOPPERS added Rajon Rondo and dropped Sebastian Telfair on December 11th
-Arlington Assaulters added Marc Gasol and dropped Spencer Hawes on December 13th
-Pgastan FC added Rudy Gay and dropped Iman Shumert on December 13th
-Oww Ming's Flagrants added Tyreke Evans and dropped Wilson Chandler on December 15th

That last transaction is noteworthy has he added Oww Ming's Flagrants on Monday in the AM and was able to put him into his roster this week as the NFA games had not yet tipped yet. Goes back the statement at the beginning of this blog post.

That's it for now

Weeks 1 Through 6 Points Total Graph

Points graph for weeks 1 through 6:

Pretty close race for the NFA title thus far, with the exception of Dis is dat Donk Ball, though he has just switched up his roster, so let's see if he can climb the standings.

Week 6 Roundup: Talking Techies

If we ever start a NFA podcast, it's going to be titled "Talking Techies" how can you not call it that? Anyway, let's take a look at what has transpired over the past 7 days.

Stat Corrections:

There were 5 stat corrections this week and 4 affected players currently owned but PFC did not own Stoudemire on November 19th when they took a techy away from him.

-Quincy Acy  had a techy taken away retroactive to November 28th. Rodman'sWeddingDress had him active that week so he loses 40 points.
-Robin Lopez  had a techy taken away retroactive to November 28th. Baltimore Hitsquad had him active that week so he loses 40 points.
-Kirk Hinrich  had a techy taken away retroactive to November 20th. Dis is dat Donk Ball had him active that week so he loses 40 points.

Standings as of December 8, 2014:

1. Baltimore Hitsquad- 2790  (+445)
2. Pgastan FC- 2600 (+440)
3. They Call Me Gamblor- 2520 (+420)
4. Rodman'sWeddingDress- 2515 (+375)
5. Arlington Assaulters- 2475 pts (+465)
6. F'N FLOPPERS 2355 (+375)
7. Oww Ming's Flagrants 2220 (+245)
8. Dis is dat Donk Ball- 1865 (+265)

As you can see, only Dis is dat Donk Ball has failed to reach the 2000 point plateau. 1st and 2nd stay the same, but 3rd and 4th swap positions. Actually, 5th through 8th also end up in the same positions as a week ago. Top point getter this week was Arlington Assaulters who scored 465 points, though Bmore Hitsquad, PFC< and TCMG all scored in the 400s this week too.

Transactions:

-Oww Ming's Flagrants added Wilson Chandler and dropped Nick Young on December 2nd
-F'N FLOPPERS added Darrell Arthur and dropped Kevin Love on December 3rd
-Dis is dat Donk Ball added Ed Davis and dropped Thaddeus Young on December 5th
-Dis is dat Donk Ball added Giannis Antetokounmpo and dropped Anthony Davis on December 7th
-Dis is dat Donk Ball added Tobias Harris and dropped Jonas Valanciunas  on December 7th

Man, people picking up players with long names....

Anyway, that's it for this week,

Week 4 and 5 Roundup

Well, I apparently forgot to do a roundup for week 4 so I'm going to combine both this week.

Stat Corrections

Week 4:
There were a total of 5 stat corrections but only one affected a player who was owned....

- DeMarcus Cousins  had a techy taken away retroactive to November 13th. Rodman'sWeddingDress had him active that week so he loses 40 points.

Week 5:
This is new, all stat corrections this week were only on personal fouls. There were 8 total stat corrections but only 4 affected teams...

- John Wall was credited with an additional personal foul retroactive to November 25th. Baltimore Hitsquad did not have him active that week so he doesn't gain 5 points.

 - Paul Millsap had 2 personal fouls taken away retroactive to November 25th. Arlington Assaulters did not have him active that week so he doesn't loses 10 points.

  - Marcin Gortat had 1 personal foul taken away retroactive to November 25th. They Call Me Gamblor did not have him active that week so he doesn't loses 5 points.

  - Paul Pierce was credited with an additional personal foul retroactive to November 25th. F'N FLOPPERS did have him active that week so he gains 5 points.

Standings as of December 1, 2014:

1. Baltimore Hitsquad- 2345  (+375 Wk 4; +720 Wk 5)
2. Pgastan FC- 2160 (+325 Wk 4; +700 Wk 5)
3. Rodman'sWeddingDress- 2140 (+315 Wk 4; +385 Wk 5)
4. They Call Me Gamblor- 2100 (+435 Wk 4; 405 Wk 5)
5. Arlington Assaulters- 2010 pts (+300 Wk 4; +490 Wk 5)
6. F'N FLOPPERS 1980 (+370 Wk 4; +355 Wk  5)
7. Oww Ming's Flagrants 1975 (+330 Wk 4; 345 Wk 5)
8. Dis is dat Donk Ball- 1600 (+470 Wk 4; +295 Wk 5)

Not a whole bunch of movement in Week 4 as it turned out, with Dis is dat Donk Ball surprisingly gaining the most points with 470. They Call Me Gamblor was the only other team in week 4 to crack the 400 mark. Week 5 on the other hand saw 2 teams crack the 700 mark with Baltimore Hitsquad and Pgastan FC gaining 720 and 700 points respectively. Baltimore HItsquad has a 185 point lead on 2nd, while 2nd only has a 20 point lead on 3rd and 3rd is only up 40 points on 4th. 5th is 90 points behind 4th but only 20 ahead of 6th and 6th is only 5 ahead of 7th. As you can see, only Dis is dat Donk Ball is out of it at the moment but that can all change in a week or two as Pgastan FC went from 7th to 2nd over the span of weeks 4 and 5.

Transactions:

-Pgastan FC added Amar'e Stoudemire and dropped Marc Gasol on November 23th
-Pgastan FC added James Harden and dropped Wilson Chandler on November 23th
-F'N FLOPPERS added Sebastian Telfair and dropped Rudy Gay on November 23th
-Arlington Assaulters added Trevor Booker and dropped David West on November 23th

-Baltimore Hitsquad added Aaron Brooks and dropped Ricky Rubio on November 29th
-Rodman'sWeddingDress added Oj Mayo and dropped Ricky Rubio on November 30th
-Pgastan FC added Kevin Durant and dropped Carlos Boozer on November 30th

That's it for this week

Week 3 Round Up

Crazy week that saw Arlington Assaulters catapult up to 2nd but then fall back to 6th by week end. Let's get to it.

Stat Corrections: There were 7 total stat corrections this week and 4 of them have affected teams.

- Tyson Chandler had a techy taken away retroactive to October 28th. Arlintgon Assaulters had him active that week so he loses 40 points.

- Chris Paul had a techy taken away retroactive to October 31st. Oww Ming's Flagrants had him active that week so he loses 40 points.

- DeAndre Jordan had a techy taken away retroactive to November 2nd. Arlintgon Assaulters had him active that week so he loses 40 points.

- Wesley Matthews had a techy taken away retroactive to November 2nd. Baltimore Hitsquad had him active that week so he loses 40 points.

Standings as of November 17, 2014:

1. Rodman'sWeddingDress- 1440  (+625)
2. Oww Ming's Flagrants- 1300 (+330)
3. They Call Me Gamblor 1260 (+355)
4. F'N FLOPPERS- 1255 (+355)
5. Baltimore Hitsquad- 1250 pts (+220)
6. Arlington Assaulters- 1220 (+500)
7. Pgastan FC- 1135 (+430)
8. Dis is dat Donk Ball- 835 (+270)

Two huge movers in Arlington Assualters and Rodman'sWeddingDress, unfortunately for the former he was up toe 2nd breifly and now back to 6, but there seems to be a lot of parity right now in NFA so no one is really out of it yet.

Transactions:

-Oww Ming's Flagrants added Tony Wroten and dropped Glen Davis on November 11th
-Rodman'sWeddingDress added Tony Allen and dropped Chris Bosh on November 16th

Week 2 Round Up

Don't Feel like writing an introduction, so let's get right to it:

Stat Corrections: There were 5 stat corrections but none of those players were owned by anyone so it has no effect on the NFA standings.

Standings as of November 10, 2014:

1. Baltimore Hitsquad- 1030 pts (+440)
2. Oww Ming's Flagrants- 970 (+425)
3. They Call Me Gamblor 905 (+500)
4. F'N FLOPPERS- 900 (+350)
5. Rodman'sWeddingDress- 815  (+380)
6. Arlington Assaulters- 720 (+285)
7. Pgastan FC- 705 (+390)
8. Dis is dat Donk Ball- 565 (+320)

Balitmore Hitsquad had the 2nd best week which saw him move into first after gaining 440 points. They Call Me Gamblor won the week with 500 points, while Dis is dat Donk Ball had the worst week with only 320 points. Still early so not too much analysis this week but I wil go into a little more detail on performance fouls through 2 weeks:

- F'N Floppers is the only team with an ejection so far
- Rodman'sWeddingDress is the only team without a Techy this season
- Baltimore Hitsquad, Oww Ming's Flagrants, F'N Floppers, and Pgastan FC have 1 flagrant apiece.
- Arlington Assualters, Pgastan FC, and Dis is dad Donk Ball are the only clubs without anyone fouling out. Coincidence that they the last three teams in the standings?

Transactions:

- Pgastan FC picked up Iman Shumpert and dropped Khris Middelton on November 9th
- Pgastan FC picked up Eric Bledsoe and dropped Mo Williams on November 9th.

That's it for now.

NFA 2014-2015 Week 1 Round Up

Going to try a few new things this year hopefully have time for more blog posts. First off I have renamed these as "Week XX Round Up" instead of the boring "Weekly Update." 2nd we are attempting to come up with a new metric: Fouls Above Replacement (FAR) so hopefully you'll be seeing that at some point this season. Finally, I am going to log weekly team totals into Excel so I can post graphs to see how teams have progressed throughout the season.

With that being said, it was a pretty eventful week 1 which was only 6 days long as it started on a Tuesday. Let's get started:

Stat Corrections: There were no stat corrections this week

Standings as of November 3, 2014:

1. Baltimore Hitsquad- 590 pts (+590)
2. F'N FLOPPERS- 550 (+550)
3. Oww Ming's Flagrants- 545 (+545)

2014-2015 NFA League/Draft Preview

It's Back! We are just a few weeks away from some intense fouling action, so what better way to get back into the swing of things than with a League/Draft Preview!

League Preview: We are at 8 teams for the 2014-2015 season The top 3 tams are all returning; Arlington Assaulters, They Call Me Gamblor, and Pgastan FC respectively. 4th place (Baltimore Hitsquad) and 5th place (Rodman'sWeddingDress) are also returning. Last place tam, F'N FLOPPERS also returns, but hopes to have a better season than last year. That would be 6 teams, I mentioned we have 8, so as the commissioner of the NFA I'd like to welcome Dis is dat Donk Ball and Oww Ming's Flagrants to the league.

Kind of tempted to run a head to head contest on the blog just to see who would win, but don't really feel like generating the schedule, though it wouldn't be too difficult I guess....Maybe one of the other members could help us out?

Draft Preview: In the past most teams just rank their foulers based on last years perfromance and it looks like that's still the best way to do so. 108 foulers scored over 1000 points last year with DeMarcus Cousins (2330 pts) and Blake Griffin (2305) leading the way yet again. The first surprise comes in at 3 where Kyle Lowry scored a whopping 2255 points. Now that point total is not what's alarming, it's the fact that he is a point guard that is crazy. He easily shattered the record for most points by a guard let alone a point guard. So the question is was it a fluke or can he repeat his performance, let's take a closer look:

Lowry had good consistent production with 267 PFs, so you were going to get at least something every night. He also clocked in at 11 techies and 5 foul outs. The foul outs may drop this year but it is conceivable he can keep up the techy pace. Throw in 1 ejection and 1 flaggy for padding and it is definitely possible he does it again.

Spencer Hawes and Andre Drummond round out the remaining foulers who scored over 2000 points. A total of 16 foulers had double digit techies, though one of those was Durant and given his injury that is unlikely to happen again unless he goes bonkers.

That's it for now. The NFA draft is this Sunday, so get your prep work done by then.

Keep Foulin' Y'all!

NFA Champion Interview: "Listen, you should earn your foul"

We now bring you an exclusive interview with Arlington Assaulters, conducted by yours truly, the commissioner.

Commissioner: So how does it feel to be the National Foul Association Champion?

Arlington Assaulters: It feels great!!!! Just like normal. Always knew I was a champion.

Commish: You ended the duopoly of Pgastan FC and Rodman'sWeddingDress, anything you want to say? Any advice for Atletico Madrid who are looking to end the duopoly in La Liga?
AA: F*** those guys! I am the best! Those guys are just lucky I didn't come along until now.

Atletico will be fine. Just keep scoring goals and f*** the naysayers.

Commish: The first two years whichever team had Dwight Howard won, the last two years whichever team had DeMarcus Cousins won, you had neither, how did you do it?
AA: Fouling is a team sport.  Draft well and you may end up like me someday.  Hah. Good luck.

Commish: Do you think flopping is an integral part of NFA? It actually encourages fouls for your opponents, giving your competition more points.
AA: Listen, you should earn your foul.  Dwayne Wade drawing the techy versus Lance Stephenson for his second techy and the ejection was disgusting.    And seeing LeBron James flop every day to give out fouls like candy... Some players should be banned.  Hell just take the Heat out of the NFA.  They don't belong.

Commish: As an NFA team owner, would you like to see more contract bonuses for performance fouls?
AA: Hell no!  My team would bankrupt me if this happened.

Commish: Should the league be open to expansion or will that just dilute the fouler pool?
AA: Expansion is fine.  More suckers for me to walk through to get to the NFA trophy.

Commish: Would you be open to expanding rosters (if Yahoo! allows it) to add coaches to rosters in order for teams to get bench techys?
AA: Absolutely.  Bench techys are a whole new source of entertainment for our fans.

Commish: You were first in the league in Fouls, Foul outs, Ejections, and Flagrants, but were only 4th in techys, is this something you want to improve moving forward?
AA: What!!! I AM THE BEST!!! This interview is over!!!

Commish: Any free agent pickups you want to attribute to you winning the title? Who was your 6th man of the year?
AA: No free agent really stands out.  Westbrook had his moments although he spent a lot of time on the bench.  Same with 6th man of the year.  Everyone had a job to do and did it well.

Commish: Who is your team's Most Valuable Fouler (MVF)?
AA: MVF was Lowry.  He had a great season.
