Week 12 Roundup: Top 2 Teams Duke It Out Edition

Not sure if anyone was paying attention to the duel between Pgastan FC and GG Foulin' this week but it was pretty crazy. Monday, was a pretty normal day with Pgastan FC scoring 95 points to GG Foulin's 60 points. It started getting crazy on Tuesday when PFC scored 155 points from just 2 players while GG Foulin' only had 15 points. PFC then had a monster Wednesday scoring 260 points with 24 fouls, 1 foul out and 2 techies. GG Foulin' scored 90 points that day. Both teams had no foulers on Thursday.

So at this point, PFC had scored 510 points for the week to GG Foulin's 165 and he had extended his lead to around 1170 points for the season. Now, the tide begins to turn with GG Foulin' scoring 260 points on Friday while PFC only scores 60 points. This erases the gain PFC had on Wednesday and then some. GG Foulin' then scored 110 points on Saturday to PFC's 50 points. Finally, GG Foulin' scored 70 points on Sunday to PFCs 50 points. Pgastan FC still managed to gain 65 points on GG Foulin' though,

Here it is in graph form:

Is It Time to Reconsider the Foul Out as a Performance Foul?

Recently I have been thinking that we need to update our definition of a Performance Foul to include the Foul Out. Here's our definition from the most recent NFA Glossary Post from 10-12-15:

Performance Foul: Any foul other than a personal foul (Technical, Flagrant, or Ejection)

Baltimore Hitsquad, who coined the term Performance Foul, had the initial reasoning that a Foul Out is a mere accumulation of personal fouls and not really special. But after seeing many foulers get to 5 fouls and sometimes even in the 3rd quarter and then never get that clutch 6th personal foul, I decided we should bring this up for debate.

Here's why I think it should be reconsidered:
1. It takes skill to get that 6th foul and thus foul out
2. Your coach, not realizing the true benefits of fouling out, will bench you when you get to 5 fouls so you have to convince him to get back on the court.
3. Fouling Out in the last minute is basically as clutch as you can get in the NFA
4. Fouling Out is statistically rarer than a technical foul

Now I understand the initial reasoning behind not including it, but I also look at it as a reward for accumulating so many fouls.

So, what do you think? Should the Foul Out be added to the definition of a Performance Foul?

300-395 points: Average week
400-495 Points: Great Week
500-595 Points: Excellent Week
>=600 points: Amazing week

Had a decent amount of change in the standings this week not to mention everyone has finally made it to the 4000 point club. Ohsnappers!!! had a poor week of 245 points and remains in last place. This is where it gets interesting now. Baltimore Hitsquad had an average week of 310 points and falls all the way from 6th to 8th place. Arlington Assaulters had an average week of 360 points and stays in 7th place but is close to 8th and 6ht. Gamblor also had an average week of 310 points and falls from 5th to 6th place. F'N FLOPPERS had an excellent week of 580 points and jumps all the way to 5th place from 8th place.

With the bunching that is going on from 5th to 8th, let's now take a look at the top 4. Oww Ming's Flagrants had an excellent week of 565 points but remains in 4th place. Rodman'sWeddingDress also had an excellent week, scoring 545 points and stays in 3rd place. GG Foulin' had an excellent week of 525 points and stays in 2nd place. Pgastan FC had an average week of 350 points but stays in comfortably in 1st place, for now.

Points Graph:
The bunching in the NFA is really noticeable in graph form. You got 9th place (Ohsnappers!!!) followed by a cluster from 5th to 8th, then a duel for 3rd, followed by 2nd and then 1st.

Well that's it for now.

Have a Happy New Year!

Week 10 Roundup: Xmas Eve Edition

Well, we have reached the mini break around Christmas in the NFA, as in no games on Christmas Eve. Let's take a look at who has what playing on Christmas as rosters stand currently (subject to change as roster's won't lock until Midnight tonight I believe).

Foulers on Xmas by Team:
Pgastan FC - Paul George
GG Foulin' - Kevin Durant, Rudy Gobert, and CJ McCollum
Rodman'sWeddingDress - James Harden, Marcus Morris, JaVale McGee, and Brandon Ingram
Oww Ming's Flagrants - Donovan Mitchell, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Jusuf Nurkic
Gamblor - Russell Westbrook and Jimmy Butler
Baltimore Hitsquad - Eric Bledsoe, PJ Tucker, and Joel Embiid
Arlington Assaulters - Noah Vonleh and Derrick Favors
F'N FLOPPERS - Ben Simmons, Khris Middleton, and Draymond Green
Ohsnappers!!! - Lance Stephenson and Evan Turner

So pretty good mix of foulers going, most Foul Clubs seem to have 2 some as many as 4 and as little as 1. Without further ado, let's get into this week's regularly scheduled post.

Stat Corrections:
- There were no stat corrections this week

Transactions:
- GG Foulin' added CJ McCollum on December 23rd

Standings as of December 24, 2018:

1. Pgastan FC - 5690 (+785)
2. GG Foulin' - 4700 (+500)
3. Rodman'sWeddingDress - 4265 (+385)
4. Oww Ming's Flagrants - 4210 (+520)
5. Gamblor - 4035 (+600)
6. Baltimore Hitsquad - 3905 (+390)
7. Arlington Assaulters - 3900 (+555)
8. F'N FLOPPERS - 3825 (+535)
9. Ohsnappers!!! - 3760 (+540)

<= 195 points: Horrible week
200-295 points: Poor week
300-395 points: Average week
400-495 Points: Great Week
500-595 Points: Excellent Week
>=600 points: Amazing week

There is a major traffic jam (transit congestion?) from foul clubs 9th through 5th. Ohsnappers!!! had an excellent week of 540 points but remains in last place but not too far behind 8th who had an excellent week of 535 points. 9th is only 65 points behind 8th. Arlington Assaulters has decided 5s are wild after he scores 555 points this week and jumps to within only 5 points of 6th place. That 6th place squad is Baltimore Hitsquad who merely had an average week of 390 points. Finally, rounding out the bottom 5, Gamblor had an amazing week of 600 points and takes a 130 point lead on 6th place. Gamblor is the only player to move up a position in the standings this week.

Oww Ming's Flagrants has a little more breathing room than the foul clubs we just went over as he is 175 points. He had an excellent week of 520 points but remains in 4th place. Rodman'sWeddingDress had an average week of 385 points and remains in 3rd. GG Foulin' had an excellent week of 500 points but remains in 2nd place because Pgastan FC had an incredible week of 785 points. PFC is 990 points ahead of GG Foulin' after 10 weeks.

Well that's it for now. Hopefully you get that elusive Xmas Techy tomorrow!
