Player Profile: Amar'e Stoudemire
I drafted Amare 7th overall (2nd overall among those who actually showed up for the draft). He has been a pretty good donk for his career since we started doing foul league and he is continuing his donk form this year as well. In 2009-2010 season he finished with 281 fouls, 2 foul outs, 13 techys, and 3 flagrants and in 2008-2009 season he had 163 fouls, 1 foul out, 10 techys, and 2 ejections. 2009-2010 season averages were as follows: 3.4 FPG and 0.2 techys with 0s for the other categories. In 2008-2009 he averaged 3.1 FPG and 0.2 techys with 0s for the other categories as well.
He is currently 3rd overall in points (behind Dwight Howard and Demarcus Cousins). He currently has 161 fouls, 1 foul out, and 13 techys. He is averaging 3.7 FPG and 0.3 techys per game, with 0.0 FO, Ejections, and Flagrants per game.
He is definitely an MVF candidate as well. Speaking of MVF, I have decided to do awards at the end of the season tentatively called "The Donkies" with an award given to the fouler who leads each statistical category in our league. Also, MVF will be given to the best fouler (i.e. most likely the fouler with the most points at the end of the season). Finally, I may do something like 1st and 2nd team All-Around Donks (like 1st team All-American).
'Til next time. Keep fouling y'all

Player Profile: Dwight Howard
Since the inception of foul league (this is the 2nd official year, though I tested this concept out 3 years ago), the team with Dwight Howard has not only won the league, but ran away with it. This year is no exception. He is no doubt the MVF (Most Valuable Fouler) in the NBA, and he has the stats to back it up. Last year, I took Dwight number 1 overall and ended up winning the league by 2215 points. This year, Dwight went 5th overall (because only 3 people showed up for the draft and the 5th pick was the first person who was actually there) and the team with Howard is leading the league by 1010 points.
This year Dwight has 143 PFs, 2 FO, 13 techys, and 1 flagrant. You'd think someone with 13 techys would get 2 in a game and thus an ejection, but nope, it hasn't happened yet. He is averaging 3.4 FPG and 0.3 techy's per game. In fact, during the begining of the season, it seemed like he was averaging a techy every 2 or 3 days, but it's more like a techy every week.
For comparison's sake, Dwight average 3.5 FPG and 0.2 techys per game last year totaling 287 fouls, 4 foul outs, and 16 techys. So, did Dwight come out of the gate on fire only to cool down or will he continue this torid pace of fouling? He is on the inside track to what should definitely be another MVF season, though some other players may have something to say, since MVF race is no where close to being over.
I'll make a post during the All-star break of leading MVF candidates, until then...

Once a Foul, Always a Foul
It recently came to my attention that the NBA can take away fouls (techys and flagrants) after the league office reviews about them (if you don't believe me just search for fouls in the NBA rule book on nba.com). Anyway, I finally relinquished 2nd place in the league about a week ago, but Monday morning I was further behind then I thought I should be. I discovered on Thursday, after looking at total stats that I only had 2 flagrant fouls, when I know I have had 4. I looked at stat corrections and wa-la. I saw 1 flagrant taken away (not sure what happened to the other) and at least 1 techy taken away.
Anyway, I just think the NBA should leave flagrant fouls and technical fouls similar to how soccer refs always stand by their calls. I mean you don't see the league taking away points, rebounds, steals, or assists weeks after the game. Or at the very least if a player appeals a foul or the league deems it wasn't a techy or flagrant, yahoo should keep the fouls in fantasy basketball as how they were called in the actual game.
Just some thoughts.
Until next time.

Player Profile: Gerald Wallace
I have to start the player profiles with the current record holder of best fantasy night in foul league. I believe it was in November, Wallace fouled out and then got ejected via 2 techys. This gave him a whopping 270 points (Of course it has just come to my attention that the best night would be a foul out from 2 flagrants which would result in an ejection. You would get 390 points for that).
Anyway, Wallace has 86 personal fouls, 2 foul outs, 6 technicals and 1 ejection. He is averaging 2.7 fouls per game (FPG), 0.1 foul outs per game (FOPG), 0.2 Techys per game, 0.0 ejections and flagrant fouls per game.
His stats are decent, but having no flagrants can be a downside. Looking back at the last 2 previous seasons, he averaged roughly those same stats, so he is right where he should be. He had 6 techys last season and 8 the season before that. So he may be reaching his special fouls ceiling, but then again he could be on track for a career year.
Not sure who I'll profile next, might talk about the brawl in LA last weekend. Until the next post,
Keep fouling y'all!

Welcome to Foul League
Thank you for joining Foul League and playing in the School of Hard Knocks League.
First Thoughts:
As i posted in the league just a few minutes ago, it has come to my attention that the league office can reclassify flagrants and technicals (techys) and take them away or grant new ones (according to official NBA rules).
Not sure where this blog is gonna go. I may do a weekly feature of best player in the past week (of our season (Thursday to Wed). I'll talk about top free agents in our league (perhaps) or other fouling trends going on.
Any suggestions on how to improve this blog will be useful as well. Plus we are probably going to do an error league in baseball and some kind of football league, so I will talk about those as well.
Thanks again
"May your fouls be flagrant and your ejections many!"
