Week 18 Roundup: Post-Cycle Edition

Well, in case you missed it a week ago today we had our first ever player, Jakarr Sampson foul for the cycle. Unfortunately, I didn't even realize it until 5 days later. Nevertheless, I believe that is hte last major feat that needed to be broken in NFA history. I can't really think of anything else....well actually looking at a post I wrote in 2014 about what would come first fouling for a cycle or fouling a perfect game. 

 

It looks like I defined a perfect game as the most possible points which would be "Your 6th personal foul is a flagrant 1 resulting in you getting ejected while already carrying a techy and an earlier flagrant (390 pts)." That stat line would read 6-1-1-1-2. That would be the extremely rare double flagrant ejection, which I am not sure has ever happened. So, as I was writing this I guess we have 2 things to go for:

1. Double Flagrant Ejection

2. Fouling a Perfect Game

Ohsnappers!!! had a horrible week of 170 points and stays in last place. Gamblor had a horrible week of 195 points and stays in 8th place. Rodman'sWeddingDress had an average week of 305 points and stays in 7th place. F'N FLOPPERS had a poor week of 210 points and falls to 6th place. Baltimore Hitsquad had an average week of 365 points and moves up to 5th place.

 

Arlington Assaulters had a great week of 440 points and stays in 4th place. Oww Ming's Flagrants had an excellent week of 590 points and stays in 3rd place. Pgastan FC had a great week of 495 points and stays in 2nd place. Finally, GG Foulin' had an average week of 375 points and stays atop the standings.

I'll admit the tiers weren't quite cut and dry this week. Tier 5 and 1 are pretty set and they have been been for a while. You still have that cluster in the middle. I suppose the simple tiers would be this:

That's more or less what we have had all season. Perhaps I am trying to split hairs by dividing that middle chunk of teams.

NFA History: Fouling for the Cycle

Foulerton's Brook, NJ: I'm actually a few days late on this (5 to be exact) but it looks like we have finally had someone foul for the cycle. Jakarr Sampson fouled for the Cycle on April 19th. His final stat line was: 6-1-1-1-1 for 310 points. 

 

I'm trying to piece this together a few days late and it looks like Sampson was ejected for a flagrant 2 after headbutting someone. He got a technical foul on the same sequence. His flagrant 2 was his 6th personal foul so he fouled out and got ejected on the same play. So, in a matter of seconds he went from 25 fantasy points to 310. He gained 285 points on that one play. Crazy! 

 

Unfortunately, no one benefited from this as he was a free agent and doesn't get much playing time. This was probably just a flash in the pan but he made NFA History in the process.

Week 17 Roundup: Home Stretch Edition

Well, we just finished up week 17 out of 20 this season so we are entering the home stretch. It looks like we're getting the title race between GG Foulin' and Pgastan FC we were denied last season due to the pandemic. Before last seasons abrupt end which saw Pgastan FC win by a mere 5 points the closest NFA season that was finished in it's entirety was the 2014-15 season which saw Rodman'sWeddingDress win their 3rd and most recent title by 95 points over They Call Me Gamblor (who has since shortened their name to just Gamblor). Though, I'll admit just thumbing through the seasons I didn't realize how many titles were won by a margin of less than 400 points. Usually you get top 2 teams then a big separation between 2 and 3, this year we get that separation between 3 and 4.

 

Well, let's get to this week's post.

Not the highest scoring week we've had but with 4 teams fouling under 300 points this week not the greatest. Ohsnappers!!! had a poor week of 275 points and remains well in last place. Gamblor had a poor week of 215 points and stays in 8th place. Rodman'sWeddingDress had a poor week of 275 points and stays in 7th place. Baltimore Hitsquad had an average week of 330 points and stays in 6th place. F'N FLOPPERS had a horrible week of 145 points and falls our of 4th place for the first time since Week 11. 

Arlington Assaulters had an average week of 320 points but it was enough to jump into 4th place. Oww Ming's Flagrants had a great week of 455 points and stays in 3rd place. Pgastan FC had an excellent week of 515 points and stays in 2nd place. Finally, GG Foulin' had an excellent week of 545 points and remains atop the standings.

Tiers are getting less clear as teams are spreading themselves out. We have the basic 3 tiers but within those, specifically the middle tier you can see it's spread apart especially towards the bottom. And again, only the top 3 teams are fouling above league average.
