BREAKING: GG Foulin's Grievance to Protest Season's End Denied

Foulerton's Brook, NJ - It has come to the attention of this blog through various sources that Foul Club Manager GG Foulin' had formally submitted a grievance to protest the end of season to the NFA Commissioner. Apparently, there was some back and forth between the NFA Commissioner, GG Foulin', and Pgastan FC starting late Saturday night that then continued into Sunday Morning with Pgastan FC the last one to agree to the grievance. A formal grievance was submitted to Yahoo! on GG Foulin's behalf by the NFA commissioner at approximately 2:20 PM Eastern Time on Sunday, June 21st.

We have obtained a version of the grievance that we can publish here:

"Given the context of the circumstances involving COVID-19 leading to the postponement and subsequent cancellation of the NBA Regular season and the inconsistencies of the rulings across and within fantasy platforms particularly as it applies to weekly roster changes/weekly scoring. Would it be possible to award our league title as a 2-way tie between Pgastan FC and GG Foulin'? We feel our league does not fall under the one-size fits all solution that Yahoo came up with as we have weekly roster changes but are a points league where points update daily. So we feel the correct decision would be to have 1st (Pgastan FC) and 2nd (GG Foulin') to finish in a tie for first. This should be seen in final standings, archived standings, and trophies in Yahoo Fantasy Profiles for the 2 managers. We don't want any automatic tiebrekers applied either so essentially this year we would have 2 teams in 1st (Pgastan FC and GG Foulin') and 1 team in 3rd (Oww Ming's Flagrants), there would be no 2nd place team this year."

Yahoo! responded at approximately 1:10 PM Eastern Time on Monday, June 22 with this:

"Unfortunately, all standings have been finalized and cannot be changed. In addition, tiebreakers cannot be disabled...I apologize that I can't be of more assistance. "

It was a pretty generic response which is frankly what the NFA Commissioner was anticipating, my sources tell me.

So the standings that were blogged about last week are final and the winner of the 2019-2020 NFA Season is Pgastan FC. Though this season will always have an asterisk by it because of the abrupt end Pgastan FC is the official winner in the record books. The grievance ultimately had to be filed as it was the right thing to do and uphold the reputation of the NFA and it's commissioner. We have seen things like this in all sports where teams continue to play in protest (where the umpire makes a "P" sign towards the press box, or a soccer team protests a result). This just adds the NFA to the list of leagues where anything can happen. Obviously, this has no bearings on the Donkies as those are player awards.

If we get any further updates we will post either in this post or a brand new post.

Keep Foulin' Y'all!

2019-2020 End of the Season Donkies!

UPDATE (12/21/2020): So I didn't realize until our draft for 2020-21 that a few of the games after the restart in August were actually regular season games. So I have to update the Donkies for historical accuracy.

I figured with the ESPY's tomorrow I should get the real awards out in advance so it takes the limelight away from those fake award shows. We all know the Donkies are the most important awards

Now this was a shortened season due to the Pandemic but like i said in my previous post we completed about 80% of the season (roughly what was done in the 2011-2012 lockout season though here not every team had completed the same amount of games). So we are still going ahead with the Donkies.

The Roger Murdock Persistent Fouling Award (Most Personal Fouls):
Dillon Brooks finished with the most fouls at 278.

The Shawn Kemp Award (Most Foul Outs):
Dillon Brooks finished with 10 foul outs.

The Rasheed Wallace Legacy Award (Most Technical Fouls):
It's a 3-way tie between DeMar DeRozan, Russell Westbrook, and Draymond Green! Each finished the season with 14 Technical Fouls

The Charles Oakley Award (Most Flagrant Fouls):
We have a 9-way tie! Devin Booker, Jonas Valanciunas, Bobby Portis, Aron Baynes, C.J. McCollum, Markief Morris, DeMar DeRozan, Davis Bertans, and Joel Embiid each finished the season with 3 flagrants.

The Dennis Rodman Award (Most Ejections):
Draymond Green finished the season with 3 ejections.

Donkies by Position  Note Stat Lines below are: (Personal Fouls-Foul Outs-Techies-Ejections-Flagrants):

PG: Russell Westbrook with 1960 points (200-2-14-2-1)

SG: Dillon Brooks with 2270 points (278-10-5-0-1)

SF: DeMar DeRozan with 1860 points (180-1-14-1-3)

PF: Marcus Morris Sr. with 1740 points (180-1-13-1-2)

C: Andre Drummond with 1885 points (201-5-10-1-1)

6th Man Award (Highest Point total for a fouler who went undrafted): Jonas Valanciunas with 1785 points (185-3-11-0-3)

Most Valuable Fouler (MVF): Dillon Brooks with 2270 points (278-10-5-0-1)

**************************************************************************

UPDATE (12/21/2020): Here's a rundown of any changes since June.

1. Dillon Brooks wins the Shawn Kemp award outright.
2.DeMar DeRozan Joins Westbrook and Green for the Rasheed Wallace Award
3. The Charles Oakley award is now a 9-way tie with Jonas Valanciunas, Devin Booker, and C.J. McCollum joining the other 6.
4. Marcus Morris Sr. squeaks by Jaren Jackson Jr. for PF Donkey by 20 points!
5. 6th Man award goes to Valancuinas instead of TJ Warren.

With the help of a few extra games we did get 2 foulers to crack 2000 points. And we didn't have a 6-way tie for flagrants, but a 9-way tie! Brooks extended his personal foul lead by 32.
****************************************************************************

Just like we wonder how the season would have ended had we been able to complete it we wonder how that would have affected the Donkies. I am guessing we still have some kind of tie for Flagrants but not a 6-way tie. Obviously, no one cracked 2000 points this year so we wonder what could have been. Props to Ohsnappers!!! for picking up 6th man before the season after he had to drop an inactive draft pick .

The Donkies by stat are actually in the range of a regular season to be honest though personal fouls probably gets to 260ish. We usually end techies in teh 14-16 range I feel like and last year Foul Outs recored was 9 so really not that bad.

Well that's it for the awards as we wrap up another season of the National Foul Association. We congratulate Pgastan FC who now joins Rodman'sWeddingDress in the only Foul Clubs to win back-to-back titles (I probably should have wrote that in th previous post).

Well that's it for now.

2019-2020 NFA Season Recap

Well, it's been exactly 3 months after my last post which was the first Monday after league play was suspended due to the pandemic. And it turns out that the standings in that post were indeed final. Though it should be noted that ESPN fantasy reverted back to standings after March 8th (the last Sunday of league play) while Yahoo decided to have the final standings as final.

As I stated in my last post, it was obviously the right decision to suspend fouling but we will never know if either GG Foulin', Pgastan FC, or even both would have broken Rodman'sWeddingDress' all-time points record. So even though Pgastan FC eked out a 5-point win (closest win possible and more on that later) the real winner might actually be Rodman'sWeddingDress.

It should be noted that just about 80% of the scheduled season was completed upon suspension.

Transactions
- GG Foulin' added Richaun Holmes and dropped Naz Reid on June 3rd
- GG Foulin' added Davis Bertans and dropped John Collins on June 3rd
- GG Foulin' added Zach Collins and dropped Marquese Chriss on June 3rd
- GG Foulin' added Justise Winslow and dropped Wendell Carter Jr. on June 3rd
- GG Foulin' dropped Karl-Anthony Towns on June 3rd
- GG Foulin' added De"Aaron Fox on June 3rd
- Pgastan FC added Kris Dunn and dropped Jordan McRae on June 6th
- GG Foulin' added Jusuf Nurkic and dropped Justise Winslow. on June 6th

GG Foulin' made a bunch of transactions in anticipation that the league would actually restart and finish the season though of course that didn't happen. Pgastan FC added Kris Dunn back strictly for archive purposes though my sources tell me that he contemplated making moves in April and May just to be ready.

Stat Corrections:
There were no stat corrections this week

Final NFA Standings 2019-2020:

1. Pgastan FC - 10555
2. GG Foulin' - 10550
3. Oww Ming's Flagrants - 9000
4. Gamblor - 8775
5. Rodman'sWeddingDress - 8635
6. Arlington Assaulters - 8535
7. Ohsnappers!!! - 8040
8. Baltimore Hitsquad -  6695
9. F'N FLOPPERS - 4870

With no games in over 3 months and having already recapped the standings in my March 16th post, I write my regular recap post. I'll just write a few observations. As stated in the opening, the real winner might actually be Rodman'sWeddingDress as his record is safe. Pgastan FC wins the league by 5 points (1 personal foul) which is the closest margin of victory possible. On the other end of the spectrum, F'N FLOPPERS who was already on pace to shatter the all-time low finishes well almost 2000 points off of it. But again, this season will have an asterisk next to it but we will still probably count it in the all-time records. As it turns out Baltimore Hitsquad just beat the all-time low at 6,695 by 25 points.

Pgastan FC really came from behind to win this year. GG Foulin' had led the league after taking over from PFC in Week 3 until PFC took the lead back in Week 17 and 18 before GG Foulin' took it back in Week 19 only to lose it by the end of the abbreviated week 21.

So out of 21 weeks Pgastan FC led in weeks 1, 2, 17,18, and 21. All other weeks were led by GG Foulin'. I guess you can't even say it's not how you start it's how you finish as PFC started in first.

We actually have the same Foul Clubs finish in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd this year as last year.

Speaking of which here is the updated All-Time Standings:

Team Foul Stats
Let's take a look at which foul club accumulated the most stats of each of the 5 stat categories as well as totals for the NFA in this abbreviated season.

Oww Ming's Flagrants 27 (2018-2019)

Average Points Per Game: The order is the final standings.

1. Pgastan FC - 23.93
2. GG Foulin' - 24.42
3. Oww Ming's Flagrants - 20.93
4. Gamblor - 21.67
5. Rodman'sWeddingDress - 21.86
6. Arlington Assaulters - 21.23
7. Ohsnappers!!! - 18.44
8. Baltimore Hitsquad -  17.12
9. F'N FLOPPERS -11.82

League Average - 20.16

According to this metric, GG Foulin' shoud have finished in 1st with Pgastan FC should have finished 2nd. Rodman'sWeddingDress should have finished in 4th, with Gamblor in 5th and Oww Ming['s Flagrants should have finished in 6th Ogsnappers!!!, Baltimore Hitsquad, and F'N FLOPPERS finished below the league average which was really brought down by F'N FLOPPERS as you would expect it to fall between 4th and 5th but instead it's between 6th and 7th.

NFA Titles:
Pgastan FC (formerly Donkey Engine and Steam Donkey FC) 4 -  2009-2010, 2012-2013. 2018-2019, 2019-2020
Rodman'sWeddingDress 3 - 2010-2011, 2011-2012, 2014-2015
Arlington Assaulters 2- 2013-2014 and 2015-2016
GG Foulin' 1- 2016-2017

Oww Ming's Flagrants 1- 2017-2018

Pgastan FC wins his 4th ttile again in this unprecedented season which was suspended with about 20% of games remaiing. Teams played between 63-67 games at the time of suspension.  During the lockout season (which doesn't have an asterisk) teams played 66 games. This is different in that the teams did not all play the same amount of games as it was abruptly halted.

I am sure thie merits of this season will be debated at NFA bars and watch parties for years to come but it is what it is and Pgastan FC is the winner.

Final NFA Points Graph:

Well that's it for now. Check back in a few days for the End of the Season Donkies whcih should be our final post of the season.
