Week 21* Roundup: Play Suspended Edition

Let's start with the obvious. COVID-19 pandemic has forced unprecedented changes in "normal" life. It has caused the suspension of the NBA NFA season that started on Wednesday. All scheduled games were played on Monday and Tuesday and 2 games were not played on Wednesday. There have been no games since. I put the asterisk in the post title as we simply don't kjnow what's going to happen when we resume. This could be the end of the regular season and it could go straight to the playoffs. We'll have to wait and see what the NBA and Yahoo! decide. This will be the last of the regular posts for a while but I'll be sure to write about any news that I get.

So with that being said, let's get to this week's post. Also, I should note that if the NBA resumes play from where it left off I can finish Week 21, but we'll see what happens. As of right now, Yahoo! has extneded Week 21 for 30 days, so we're technically in Week 21 still. But I'm going to write this post anyway in case this is the end of the regular season.

This week only conisted of 2+ days as noted above so my normal write-up does not really make sense to write. I'll just say a few things. Even though it was 100% correct to suspend the season, it would have been great to see the duel for 1st between PFC and GG Foulin' play out fully. As it stands now, PFC has a 5-point lead he was able to get before the shutdown and could potentially win the title if there are no more games played and no stat corrections. Only time will tell to see what happens.

Second, it's also a shame that it came to an abrupt end like this as both PFC and GG Foulin' were on pace to break Rodman'sWeddingDress' all-time high (as noted many times in the blog this season). On the contrary, this could save face for F'N FLOPPERS who was easily on pace to break the all-time low.

We had the lockout season in 2011-12 which shortened the season even more so this season could be treated like this.

Week 20 Roundup: 5th Month Analysis Blowout!

With just over 5 weeks left (week 26 is only 3 days) this could be a telling analysis post. In fact, we have have now played 78.6% of the NFA season. As I defined at the end of last week's post, we really have 4 tiers (with tier 2 having it's own sub-tiers). So let's see how those pan out now that we are essentially in the home stretch of the season!

Stat Corrections:
- Pascal Siakam had a personal foul given to him retroactive to February 28th. Gamblor had him active that week so he gains 5 points
- OG Anunoby had a personal foul taken away from him retroactive to February 28th. Oww Ming's Flagrants did not have him active that week so he does not lose 5 points
- OG Anunoby had a personal foul given to him retroactive to March 5th. Oww Ming's Flagrants did not have him active that week so he does not gain 5 points

Summary of stat corrections: Gamblor gains 5 points, that is all

Transactions:

F'N FLOPPERS had an average week of 320 points and remains well in last place still having not cracked 5,000 points. Baltimore Hitsquad had an average week of 345 points and remains in 8th place still not at the 7,000 point mark. Ohsnappers!!! had a great week of 460 points and stays in 7th place and is just 65 points from 8,000 points. Rodman'sWeddingDress had an average week of 375 points and stays in 6th place. Arlington Assaulters had an excellent week of 550 points and stays in 5th place.

Gamblor had an excellent week of 520 points and stays in 4th place. Oww Ming's Flagrants had a great week of 495 points and remains in 3rd place. Pgastan FC had an excellent week of 525 points and remains in 2nd place. GG Foulin' had a great week of 485 points and stays atop the standings. There was no movement this week in the standings

A few interesting things to note from this metric:
1. Rodman'sWeddingDress is slightly ahead of Arlington Assaulters in points per game so he should theoretically finish ahead of him in 5th.
2. Gamblor has been averaging 0.74 points per game more than Oww Ming's Flagrants so we should expect him to finish 3rd in the end.

Let's see what the projected final standings show us and if they differ from the points per game metric

Now, this is interesting. I am mainly looking at the linear regression method now as the tradinational method doesn't really tell us much anymore in my opinion. Not much to talk about from the bottom as F'N FLOPPERS continues his historically bad season and Baltimore Hitsquad is comfortably in 8th place. Ohsnappers!!! is also projected to finish in 7th which should be no surprise. Rodman'sWeddingDress is the first thing to talk about as he is projected to finish in 5th place, 385 points ahead Arlington Assaulters.

The second thing of note from the linear regression method is that both Pgastan FC and GG Foulin' are on pace to break Rodman'sWeddingDress all time high score. Also, F'N FLOPPERS is still well on pace to break the all-time low.

Week 19 Roundup: Injuries at the Top Edition

Note: I found an error on Tuesday morning in the total points for Shaq and messed up the edit so had to create a new post. I just copied and pasted everything I wrote yesterday.

Pgastan FC has been hit by the injury bug and now has 2 foulers on his bench who are injured in addition to someone already in their IL spot. This happens as just last week GG Foulin' had someone in their IL spot plus all 3 bench players injured. GG Foulin' has regained the lead in the league thanks to the injuries that PFC has suffered this past week but more on that later in the post. For now, it's time for another Fouler profile!

I decided to take a look at Shaq's career foul stats this week:

So of the 3 foulers I have looked at so far, Shaq finds himself in the middle just shy of Rasheed's ltotal. Though, he has definitely amassed a ton of personal fouls which has me thinking I should do profiles for the foulers I have named the mid-season and season awards after as I believe I named them after the career leaders. Though, certain fouls may not be that old (like flagrant), it will be interesting. I guess I should do Kareem in 2 weeks, as next week will be the next analysis blowout post.

My sources tell me, that Pgastan FC had been eyeing those first two moves for a few days but simple wanted to make some transactions on leap day Also of note, he is cutting bait with Josh Jackson which doubly hurts as he was the reason why he opted not to pick up Chriss. We'll see if these moves help him in the last few weeks of the season.

We have had some movement in the standings this week and a few other interesting things to note. Unfortunately, that movement did not come to F'N FLOPPERS who remains in last place after an average week of 305 points. Nor did that movement come to Baltimore Hitsquad who, at a great week of 410 points but stays comfortably in 8th place. Ohsnappers!!! had an average week of 310 points and stays in 7th place. Rodman'sWeddingDress had an average week of 315 points and actually falls down to 6th place. Arlington Assaulters had a great week of 410 points and moves up (barely) to 5th place where he holds a 5 points lead over Rodman'sWeddingDress.

Gamblor had an excellent week of 505 poitns and stays in 4th place. Oww Ming's Flagrants also had an excellent week of 505 points and stays in 3rd place. Pgastan FC, hit by the injury bug, still put up an average score of 375 points (it felt worse than that midway through the week) but falls to 2nd place. GG Foulin' had an excellent week of 575 points and overtakes PFC for 1st place.
