Week 14 Roundup: Time for Reflection Edition

I'm sure, like I was, you were all in shock at the news of Kobe Bryant's death in a helicopter crash yesterday. One of the first things I thought of was Roberto Clemente, as he died doing charitable work. Kobe died being a father, taking his daughter and others to a basketball tournament. I also, thought fondly of the GameCube game NBA Courtside 2002 which bears his picture on the cover and I loved playing that on my GameCube. I had him on my fantasy team the year he put up 81 points as well.Having gotten into soccer like 12 years ago, and having found out that Kobe liked soccer having spent some of his childhood in Italy made me like him even more. He was also a tennis fan, a sport I played growing up as well. His was really a global celebrity and the tributes pouring out show that. He will be missed.

Earlier today, I was trying to think of how he performed as a fouler so I gathered his foul stats together. I had a recollection that he had some decent seasons, especially at his peak, and I was basically right.

As you can see he definitely had some great seasons including 2 where he cracked the hard to reach 2000-point mark. I don't really have a context of how the rest of the league fouled back then but I would say it is a pretty safe bet that any season he scored over 1400 points he would have been one of the top guards. There's a good chance he was the top guard in 2001-02, 2005-06, and 2007-08.

Quite a range of scores this week from poor to amazing, let's take a closer look. F'N FLOPPERS had a poor week of 210 points and remains comfortably in last place where his final position in the standings isn't really in question but his race to not have the all-time record low score is. Baltimore HItsquad sits comfortably in 8th place after a poor week of 230 points. Arlington Assaulters had an average week of 330 points but actually falls to 7th place. Ohsnappers!!! had a great week of 495 points and moves up one spot to 6th place. Rodman'sWeddingDress had a poor week of 285 points and while he stays in 5th place he drops from tier 2 to tier 3 (more on this in a moment).

Oww Ming's Flagrants had a great week of exactly 400 points but falls from 3rd to 4th place. Gamblor had an amazing week of 660 points and moves up to 3rd place. Pgastan FC had an amazing week of 735 points and stays in 2nd but closes the gap a little on first. GG Foulin' also had an amazing week, this one consisted of 685 points, and remains atop the standings.

The only real change, as stated above, was Rodman'sWeddingDress falling from tier 2 to tier 3. Looking at the graph the tiers are pretty obvious now actually. Tier 3 and Tier 2 are somewhat close together but if you look close enough you can see them distinct enough apart.

Week 13 Roundup: Duel for First Edition

With it being MLK Day meaning I am off from work today and rosters having already locked due to matinee games it gives me a chance to write an early post this week. With both GG Foulin' and Pgastan FC having Amazing weeks (more on that later) it really has become a two-club race for first. They have really separated themselves from the rest of the pack.

This is reminiscent of last year's duel although the roles are reversed in which both foul clubs essentially match each other's weekly output and thus never gain or lose ground on one another. Pgastan FC had a huge week early on but lost the points he made up on GG Foulin' later in the week and the only reason he ended up gaining any points on GG Foulin' at all was the fact that GG Foulin' had a stat correction that took points away. I will elaborate more on that later in the post as we get to the appropriate parts of the post.

Since I just did an elaborate analysis post last week and I can't think of anything else to add, like more NFA terms, which reminds me I should re-post the NFA Glossary post again and perhaps add anything that I am not thinking of, we well get right into this week's post.

F'N FLOPPERS has finally joined the 3000 point club after an average week of 300 points but remains well in last place perhaps destined for an all-time record low National Foul Association score. Baltimore Hitsquad had a great week of 410 points but finds himself comfortably in 8th place in which it seems like he won't move up or down positions anytime soon. Ohsnappers!!! had an average week of 335 points and falls to 7th place as Arlington Assaulters had a great week of 450 points and moves up to 6th place.

Rodman'sWeddingDress had a poor week of 225 points and stays in 5th place. Gamblor had an average week of 330 points and remains in 4th place.Oww Ming's Flagrants had a poor week of 235 points and remains in 3rd place but does happen to crack the 6000 point mark .

As for the top 2 foul clubs, Pgastan FC had an amazing week of 720 points but as mentioned above remains in 2nd place. That's because GG Foulin' was able to more or less match PFC who scored 700 points this week. At one point earlier in the week PFC had the deficit down to under 300 points but GG Foulin' had a strong 2nd half of the week and was able to actually gain on him with points. With no games for either team yesterday the scores were actually GG Foulin' 740 and PFC 720 for the week but as mentioned above the Kyle Lowry stat correction was all it took for PFC to go from losing 20 points on GG Foulin' to gaining 20 points on him.

The tiers remained unchanged from last week though the teams in tier 2 actually got closer in some regards. Arlington Assaulters flipped the script on Ohsnappers!!! this week going up 80 points on him where he was down 35 points last week. Gamblor is now about 100 points closer to Oww Ming's Flagrants than last week as well, while Rodman'sWeddingDress goes from just 25 points behind Gamblor to 130 points behind.
