The Midseason Donkies (2012 Edition)

With the Donkstar break in full swing, it's time to give out midseason awards for this abbreviated season, so without Freddy Adu, here we go:

The Donkey for Most Fouls goes to....
DeMarcus Cousins with 132 fouls

The Donkey for Most Foul Outs goes to...
David Lee with 4 foul outs

The Donkey for Most Technical Foul goes to....
Kendrick Perkins with 11 technical fouls

The Donkey for Most Flagrant Fouls goes to...
A three-way tie: with DeShawn Stevenson, Josh McRoberts, and Drew Gooden all having 2 flagrant fouls

The Donkey for Most Ejections goes to....
Sebastian Telfair with 2 ejections

So there you have it, only 1 tie this year as opposed to 2 last year. Now we get to wait to see if the end of the season Donkies look like these at all. It will be interesting to see due to the abbreviated season.

League Roundup 2-20-12

Quick Post before the All-Star Break with a league roundup. During the All-Star Break we'll post the Donkies as well so keep an eye out for that.

  • The big news last night was Rondo's ejection (Which even made it on SportsCenter Highlights). The end result was 190 points from Rondo and a total 235 points for Baltimore Hitsquad whose lead is now 320 points.
  • On the other hand places 2, 3, and 4 are only separated by 75 points. 35 points between 2nd and 3rd and 40 pts between 3rd and 4th.
  • 5th through 7th are falling far behind and have probably no shot.
  • Top 3 foulers:
    • DeMarcus Cousins
    • Tyson Chandler
    • Dwight Howard
That's it for now, check back later this week for the Mid-Season Donkies

Big Board: Jan 16

As an attempt to get some regularity in this blog, I've decided to to a top 25 rankings of foulers each week (or every other week or every month). Points will be a major factor as to the rankings, but we'll try to look at the intangibles of fouling as well.

Without further ado, here is the first edition:

1. DeMarcus Cousins- Finished last year as number 1 fouler by a lot and already has more 200 more pts than the next best fouler. Enough said.
2. David Lee- 420 pts, 3 foul outs are good, but only 1 techy is a little bit of a dissapointment.
3. Stephen Jackson- Only 36 fouls, but with 4 techys, almost averaging a techy per week.
4. Amir Johnson- 55 fouls and 2 foul outs, hopefully he starts producing techys soon.
5. Matt Barnes- 40 fouls with 24 min per game, decent fouls per minute. Also 1 FO, and 3 techys
6. Lamar Odom- Total points are inflated with his ejection, probably wont be in top 10 much longer.
7. Jarrett Jack- 26 fouls, but 2 flagrants, great production from a guard.
8. Robin Lopez- 32 fouls with only 15 min per game, also has a flagrant.
9. Kendrick Perkins- 34 fouls and 4 techys pretty good, but needs more fouls.
10. Amare Stoudemire- 30 fouls and 4 techys, again, needs more fouls
11.Ian Mahinmi- 42 fouls with under 20 min per game
12. Drew Gooden- Ejection inflates his stats too with only 19 fouls and 19 minutes per game.
13. Ivan Johnson- 23 fouls with only 13 min per game. Also 2 FOs and 2 techys. Great Averages
14. Deron Williams- Ejection inflates his total points, but even without it good production for a guard.
15. Udonis Haslem- 37 fouls, 1 techy, and 1 flagrant so far, 30 min per game
16. Carmelo Anthony- Day-to-Day with an injury but so far great stats.
17. Josh Smith- 33 min per game, 33 fouls, and 3 techys
18. Rajon Rondo- 25 fouls and 4 techys great production from a PG
19. Larry Sanders- 32 fouls only 13 min per game throw in a FO and a Flagrant
20. Tyson Chandler- Threes are wild: 33 MPG, 33 fouls, and 3 techys
21. Ben Gordon- Flagrant inflates stats, but still 33 fouls and 1 techy.
22. Gerald Wallace- 35 fouls, 1 FO, and 1 techy. Decent if you start him at the SF.
23. Jamaal Magloire- Just under 13 min per game with 31 fouls, 1 techy, and a flagrant.
24. Paul Millsap- 35 fouls, 1 FO, and 1 techy.
25. Danny Granger- 32 Min per game, but only 17 fouls, 2 techys and an ejection inflate his stats.

Fouling Is More Important than the Score

Man Code #356: Thou shalt gain more respect if they foul out in an NBA game than getting a triple-double
Man Code #357: Thou shalt gain even more respect if they get ejected
Man Code #358: Thou shalt gain the utmost respect if they ejected via a double technical or double flagrant
