Week 18 Roundup: Leap Day Edition

Well given that it's February 29th (and who knows the next time it will fall on a Monday) I had to title this blog post appropriately. I initially titled it "Free Agent Pool Dried Up Edition" and you can see the write up for that below:

Another week passes, another week where no Foul Clubs added any free agents. A look at the wire shows the free agent foulers are pretty thin. It looks like most Foul Clubs have solidified their rosters as of now and there are really no better options out there. There are probably a few hidden gems but it's probably for players that don't have any (or little) history of fouling so it would take an established fouler getting benched, injured, or just on a terrible cold streak for some foul clubs to make some roster moves at this point in the season. Has the free agent pool dried up? Usually, we have teams making transactions until the very end. Maybe most foul clubs have discovered how to evaluate talent better.

Well, let's get into this week

Stat Corrections
- Draymond Green had a techy taken away from him retroactive to January 20th. Rodman'sWeddingDress had him active that week so he loses 40 points.

Standings as of February 29, 2016

1. Arlington Assaulters- 8225 pts (+515)
2. Oww Ming's Flagrants 7740 (+605)
3. Rodman'sWeddingDress- 6955 (+240)
4. Pgastan FC- 6940 (+385)
5. F'N FLOPPERS 6555 (+295)
6. They Call Me Gamblor- 6435 (+335)
7. Ohsnappers!!!- 6145 (+405)
8. Baltimore Hitsquad- 5860 (+330)

Before I get to the regular standings analysis, a quick observation. 3 weeks ago, Baltimore Hitsquad had 5155 points, 2 weeks ago Ohsnappers!!! had 5555 points, 1 week ago Pgastan FC had 6555 points, and this week F'N FLOPPERS had 6555 points. So, fives have been wild the last few weeks, can this oddity continue?

Anyway, let's start from the bottom. Baltimore Hitsquad is the only club to have not broken 6000 points yet. He scored 330 points this week and remains in last place. Ohsnappers!!! put up 405 points and remains in 7th place about 300 points ahead of 8th and 300 points behind 6th. Speaking of 6th, They Call Me Gamblor put up 335 points but remains in 6th, 120 points behind 5th., F'N FLOPPERS who put up only 295 points. Pgastan FC put up 385 points and closes the gap on Rodman'sWeddingDress to only 15 points (with an assist given to the stat correction mentioned above). Rodman'sWeddingDress only put up 240 points this week and as mentioned in the last sentence is only 15 points ahead of 4th. Oww Ming's Flagrants had the best week with 605 points to close the gap on 1st. However, Arlington Assaulters put up the 2nd best week with 515 points so the gap between 1st and 2nd is still pretty significant (485 points).

As of right now, the duels that seem to be shaping up are for 3rd and 5th. If Oww Ming's Flagrant's can have a few more weeks like this week, Arlington Assaulters will have to sweat out the title and his hope for wire-to-wire would be in jeopardy.

Transactions
As mentioned in the intro, there were no transactions this week.

Well that's it for now

Week 17 Roundup: Post Trade Deadline Addition

The biggest trade in the NFA at the deadline was Markieff Morris being dealt to the Wizards. No reigning MVF has ever been traded the following season. It's safe to assume that the Suns don't use the principles of Fouler Ball (i.e. analytics). That was really the only trade of consequence in the NFA at the deadline, otherwise it was a relatively quiet deadline.

Stat Corrections
There were no stat corrections this week.As mentioned in last week's post I checked Week 16 and 17 and there were no stat corrections for either week.

Standings as of February 22, 2016

1. Arlington Assaulters- 7710 pts (+270)
2. Oww Ming's Flagrants 7135 (+380)
3. Rodman'sWeddingDress- 6715 (+340)
4. Pgastan FC- 6555 (+250)
5. F'N FLOPPERS 6260 (+240)
6. They Call Me Gamblor- 6100 (+170)
7. Ohsnappers!!!- 5740 (+185)
8. Baltimore Hitsquad- 5530 (+220)

Despite another short 4-day week due to the Donk-Star Break (in which most teams only had 2 games), there were some pretty impressive scores. Baltimore Hitsquad remains in last place after putting up 220 points this week. Ohsnappers!!! is 210 points ahead of the Hitsquad after only putting up 185 points this week. They Call Me Gamblor put up a mere 170 points but remains in 6th with 6100 points. F'N FLOPPERS had a decent week of 240 but remains in 5th place with 6260 points. Pgastan FC put up a nice week of 250 points but remains in 4th with 6555 points. Rodman'sWeddingDress was able to gain on PFC with an exxcellent 340 point week to get to 6715 points. Oww Ming's Flagrants had the best week, putting up 380 points in this short week. Arlington Assaulters remains in 1st place after putting up 270 points this week but his lead has dwindled down to 575 points.

Can Oww Ming's Flagrants catch Arlington Assaulters? Can Rodman'sWeddingDress hold onto 3rd place? And, can Baltimore HItsquad finally emerge from the cellar? Find out in the closing 7 weeks of the NFA!

Transactions
Surprisingly, there were no transactions this week.

Well that's it for now.

Week 16 Roundup: President's Day Edition!

Don't feel like writing an intro since I just posted the Midseason Donkies yesterday, so let's get right to it.

Stat Corrections
There were no stat corrections this week. Actually, Yahoo, might treat week 16 as 2 weeks so I will have to check the stat corrections for week 16 and 17 for the next update.

Standings as of February 15, 2016

1. Arlington Assaulters- 7440 pts (+280)
2. Oww Ming's Flagrants 6755 (+165)
3. Rodman'sWeddingDress- 6375 (+210)
4. Pgastan FC- 6305 (+355)
5. F'N FLOPPERS 6020 (+255)
6. They Call Me Gamblor- 5930 (+265)
7. Ohsnappers!!!- 5555 (+305)
8. Baltimore Hitsquad- 5310 (+155)

Keeping in mind this was a short 4-day week, let's look at the standings at the break. Baltimore Hitsquad had the lowest score with 155 points and remains in last place. Five's are wild for Ohsnappers!!! who after a 305 point week he stands in 7th place with 5,555 points. They Call Me Gamblor put up 265 points and remains in 6th place but is only 89 points behind 5th. Speaking of 5th, F'N FLOPPERS put up 255 points to remain in 5th this week. Pgastan FC put up 355 points, highest score in the league this week, further distancing himself from 5th and gaining on 3rd, but remains in 4th place, only 70 points behind 3rd. Rodman'sWeddingDress remains in 3rd after a 210 point week but as stated in the previous sentence is only 70 points ahead of PFC. Oww Ming's Flagrants only put up 165 points but remains comfortably in 2nd place. Arlington Assaulters put up a nice 280 point week and remains in 1st place with 7,440 points.

Transactions
- Pgastan FC dropped Josh Smith on February 11th
- Ohsnappers!!! added Robert Covington and dropped Marvin Williams on February 12th
- Oww Ming's Flagrants added Devin Booker and dropped Taj Gibson on February 14th

Points Graph
Being we are at the Donk-Star Break, seems like an appropriate time to add another points graph.

2015-2016 Midseason Donkies!

Being at the mid-point of the season, well technically we're past midpoint (not sure why the Donk-Star game is like 50-something games into hte season)....anyway, it's that time for the Midseason awards since we have reached the Donk-Star Break.

The Roger Murdock Persistent Fouling Award (Most Personal Fouls):
Giannis Antetokounpmpo leads the league at the break with 177 personal fouls

The Shawn Kemp Award (Most Foul Outs):
It's a tie between Giannis Antetokounpmpo and DeMarcus Cousins who each of 6 foul outs

The Rasheed Wallace Legacy Award (Most Technical Fouls):
We have another tie! DeMarcus Cousins and Dwight Howard both have 11 Technical Fouls

The Charles Oakley Award (Most Flagrant Fouls):
We have yet another tie! Matt Barnes and James Harden both have 3 flagrant fouls so far

The Dennis Rodman Award (Most Ejections):
Yup, you guessed it, another tie! Dwight Howard, Mario Chalmers, and Blake Griffin have each been ejected 2 times so far this season

Donkies by Position  Note State Lines below are: (Personal Fouls-Foul Outs-Techies-Ejections-Flagrants):

PG: Kyle Lowry with 1220 points (140-1-9-1-0)

SG: Matt Barnes with 1225 points (153-1-4-0-3)

SF: Giannis Antetokounpmpo with 1385 points (177-6-1-1-0)

PF: DeMarcus Cousins with 1720 points (164-6-11-1-0)

C: Dwight Howard with 1595 points (135-2-11-2-2)

*I am not sure exactly how to do Donkies by position since there can be overlap from what players are eligible to play in NFA and what they actually play in real life. For instance, if we strictly do position, Rodney Hood would have won the Donkey for SG. Cousins would have won PF and C since he is eligible for both but I decided to give the C award to Howard who was next. I believe I have done this both ways in the past, any input would be useful.

6th Man Award (Highest Point total for a fouler who went undrafted): Zaza Pachulia with 1220 points (132-1-5-1-2)

Midseason Most Valuable Fouler (MVF): DeMarcus Cousins with 1720 points (164-6-11-1-0)

Well that's it for now. Check back tomorow for the Week 16 Roundup

Week 15 Roundup: What Goes Around Comes Around Edition

Well, after writing about how Baltimore Hitsquad missed 3 ejections last week all on his bench (though I myself had 2 bench techies I believe), I bench Carmelo Anthony kind of last minute as he missed 2 games last week and was still experiencing knee soreness. Tuesday he gets a foul out and an flagrant for 170 points. Ended up with 200 points for the week and I would have gained 155 if you subtract the 45 from Jerami Grant who I replaced Melo with. Though in my defense, Melo did miss one of the 4 games he had last week.

Anyway.... Let's get on with the update.

Stat Corrections:

- Dwight Howard had a techy taken away from him retroactive to January 30th. Baltimore Hitsquad did not have him active that week so he does not lose 40 points.
- DeAndre Jordan had a techy taken away from him retroactive to January 22nd. They Call Me Gamblor had him active that week so he loses 40 points.

Standings as of February 8, 2016

1. Arlington Assaulters- 7160 pts (+380)
2. Oww Ming's Flagrants 6590 (+375)
3. Rodman'sWeddingDress- 6165 (+415)
4. Pgastan FC- 5950 (+635)
5. F'N FLOPPERS 5765 (+420)
6. They Call Me Gamblor- 5665 (+485)
7. Ohsnappers!!!- 5250 (+450)
8. Baltimore Hitsquad- 5155 (+555)

Baltimore Hitsquad continues ascent out of the basement of the NFA with another strong week, scoring 555 points. However, it was not enough to get out of 8th place, but he is closing that gap on 7th. Ohsnappers!!! scored 450 points but is only 95 points ahead of the Hitsquad who is in 8th. They Call Me Gamblor had another strong week scoring 485 points but remains in 6th. F'N FLOPPERS fell to 5th despite scoring 420 points. That's because Pgastan FC scored a league leading 635 points this week and jumped back to 4th. In so doing he closed the gap on 3rd as well. Rodman'sWeddingDress scored 415 points this week and remains in 3rd however. Oww Ming's Flagrants scored 375 points and remains in 2nd 570 points back of first. Arlington Assaulters gained 5 points on 2nd with a 380 point week, remains in 1st, and is the first to crack 7000 points.

Transactions
- F'N FLOPPERS added Stanley Johnson and dropped Terrence Jones on February 7th.

Well that's it for now. Given it's a short week with the Donk Star Break coming up, I will post a points graph on the next update once we hit the break. Also, stay tuned for the Midseason Donkies!

Week 14 Roundup: Back to Back Ejection Edition

Dwight Howard was ejected on Friday and Saturday this past week and Saturday's ejection came from an altercation with Nene Hillario. Unfortunately, for Baltimore Hitsquad, he had both of those players on his bench this week. In his defense, Howard was still injured on Monday when rosters lock so it's hard to take that risk. Nene was healthy though. All in all, the Hitsquad had 700 points on his bench between those two players. If only he had them in his lineup, he could have set some serious NFA weekly records and perhaps a daily record on Saturday. In fact, He scored 250 points Saturday night without the 2 ejections, so had he started those 2 players he would have scored 615 points, though would have fallen a flagrant short of a team cycle.

Anyway, let's get to the update.

Stat Corrections: There were no stat corrections this week

Standings as of February 1, 2016

1. Arlington Assaulters- 6780 pts (+400)
2. Oww Ming's Flagrants 6215 (+670)
3. Rodman'sWeddingDress- 5750 (+335)
4. F'N FLOPPERS 5345 (+340)
5. Pgastan FC- 5315 (+305)
6. They Call Me Gamblor- 5180 (+355)
7. Ohsnappers!!!- 4800 (+310)
8. Baltimore Hitsquad- 4600 (+520)

Arlington Assaulters is keeping up the consistency with a 3rd straight 400 point week. However, Oww Ming's Flagrants continues to close the gap on him as he had a strong 670 point week and is now only 565 points back of 1st. Rodman'sWeddingDress remains comfortably in 3rd with a 335 point week. F'N FLOPPERS has passed Pgastan FC, albeit not by much, to move into 4th place after scoring 340 points, while PFC only put up 305 points this week. They Call Me Gamblor scored 355 points to become the latest to reach the 5000 point club. Ohsnappers!!! remains in 7th place after a 310 point week. Finally, Baltimore Hitsquad had a strong week with 520 points but one can only wonder what might have been. Actually, if he had benched Robin Lopez (who had 15 points all week) for Howard and Bogut (65 points) for Nene, he would have scored an additional 620 points so that would have brought him to 5,220 and he would be sitting in 6th.

Transactions
- Pgastan FC added John Wall and dropped Reggie Jackson on January 31st.

Well that's it for now.
