Week 5 Roundup: Tournament Donkage Edition

When planning ahead for this week I noticed the following week had no games scheduled. I figured it was due to the in-season tournament but want4d to confirm. And sure enough it was. The last round of group stage games are tomorrow so we'll get the games for next week probably on Wednesday or by Thursday at eh earliest. Actually, come to think of it since all games but the final will count towards the regular season, I wonder if there are no games scheduled beyond December 2nd as of now? Eh, looks like they got stuff for January. 

 

Anyway, so what's going to happen next week is that the tams that make the knockout round will play a quarterfinal on Monday or Tuesday. Then the teams that didn't make that stage will play a game on Wednesday. The semifinals will be played on Thursday, December 7th followed by another day in which the teams that didn't make the knockout stages for Friday. Those 22 teams will be joined by the 4 teams that lost in the quarterfinals as well. The Championship game will be on December 9th and will not count for the NFA. So, suffice it to say next week may be a light week in the NFA. I'll post more on it in next week's post when we have a schedule. Now let's get on to this week's post.

Tiers had some shake up this week as they didn't split that easily at least going only by the graph. The actual points in the standings can make it easier to see though. The bottom 2 tiers are pretty good, though Rodman is ahead of Ohsnappers!!! and F'N FLOPPERS. GG Foulin' could arguably be in their own tier atop with Pgastan FC joining Tier 2 but went with historical precedent for this week's tiers and put PFC in tier 1 for now Of course the tiers are fluid throughout the season so we'll just have to wait and see what happens next.

Week 3 Roundup: Flopping Techy Edition

Looks like I can finally get to the big news of the season. That is, you can now get a techy for flopping The flopping techy does not count towards the 2 techies that would lead to an ejection. So in a sense, they are really like techies you get for defensive 3-seconds. Now the weird thing is, that Yahoo has been counting this as techies (at least in the first week) whereas defensive 3-second techies have never been counted in the NFA. So we'll see if this continues to happen but if it does, then we could get a lot more scoring this year, which seems to be the case.

Gamblor, the only team to not make the draft, had a poor week of 235 points and remains in last place. F'N FLOPPERS had a great week of 450 points and falls down 1 spot to 6th place. Arlington Assaulters had an amazing week of 680 points and vaults all the way up to 5th place from 8th place.

Week 2 Roundup: Records Galore Edition

Hopefully, some of you contacted Yahoo regarding the missing foul outs last week. I want to give a quick update on that before I get to this week's post. I contacted Yahoo yesterday via the chat and they said my ticket is still open and they are looking into it but the problem seems to be complicated so that's why it's taking a long time. I'm just glad they are looking into it and hopefully it gets resolved soon. 

Now, to the crazy first two weeks we had with records. First, off was P.J. Washington fouling for the cycle on October 27th. That was a stat line of 6-1-1-1-1 for 310 points. This has happened before but it is extremely rare. 

Second, we saw Jalen Duren get what is believed to be the first double flagrant ejection in NFA history on November 5th. The last game he played in on November 2nd he got a double-techy ejection so he was ejected two games in a row. I believe that's a first as well. In those two games his stats were 9-0-2-2-2 for a total of 485. 

Finally, largely because of Jalen Duren and LaMelo Ball getting 2 foul outs in the week GG Foulin' scored what is believed to be a single-week record (I couldn't find a higher score searching through the blog) of 1095 points. This is what I found in the blog:
