NFA 2016-2017: Weeks 1-3 Roundup

Haven't felt like writing updates lately but have still been writing down weekly scores in Excel and after seeing it through week 3, I was compelled to write one tonight. Not sure if I will post an update every week but I will post stuff throughout the season. Also, may change hte format up on this recaps and nix the transactions and stat correction stuff.

Draft Recap
It was a crazy draft, as the first 3 picks were autopick which meant defending champ, Arlington Assaulters, was able to get DeMarcus Cousins 4th overall. Being that Arlington Assaulers is the only team to have won the NFA without either Cousins or Howard, you would think he would run away with the league this year.... However, that has not been the case so far in the first 3 weeks. Granted, it's only 3 weeks which is a small smaple size, but still, since he went wire-to-wire last year, he has set the bar pretty high.

New comer, GG Foulin', took Giannis over Howard at 5th overall, which history says may come back to bite him, we shall see. Pgastan Foul Club took Blake Griffin at 7 after Oww Ming's Flagrants took Howard at 6. Russell Westbrook went 8th overall and Karl Anthony Towns went 9th overall to the Hitsquad on autopick.

Other notable picks:

Arlington Assaulters took Matt Barnes in the 2nd Round
Pgastan FC took Markieff Morris in the 2nd Round
Oww Ming's Flagrants took Draymond Green in the 2nd Round
GG Foulin' took Kyle Lowry in the 2nd Round

We shall see if Pgastan FC's Analytics Department can carry over his 2nd half surge from last season to this season, but so far he sits in 5th place.

Stat Corrections
I know I said I may not do this regularly but so far there have only been 3 stat corrections. One is from a free agent but the other was huge.

- Demarcus Cousins had an ejection given to him on October 29th. Arlington Assaulters had him active so he gained 100 points
- Demarcus Cousins had a technical foul given to him on October 29th. Arlington Assaulters had him active so he gained 40 points

Having an ejection retroactively given to a fouler is pretty rare, I think it has happened one other time since I have started doing these blogs but I can't confirm. In either case, Arlington Assaulters gained 140 points.

Standings as of November 14, 2016 (Weeks 1-3)

1. Arlington Assaulters- 1665
2. GG Foulin'- 1565
3. Oww Ming's Flagrants- 1555
4. Ohsnappers!!!- 1460
5. Pgastan FC- 1155
6. Rodman'sWeddingDress- 1135
7. F'N FLOPPERS- 1105
8. They Call Me Gamblor- 1030
9. Baltimore Hitsquad- 955

As you will be able to see in the points graph below, there is a clear top 4 and bottom 5 already. We shall see if this stays throughout the season or if teams make a run at the top tier or some top tier teams fall to the bottom tier.

Transactions
Not going to go over transactions tonight, but the following teams have not made a transaction this season:

Pgastan FC
Ohsnappers!!!
They Call Me Gamblor

NFA 2015-2016 Season Recap

So, another National Foul Association season is in the books. Let's take a look at how the final 3 days wrapped up.

Stat Corrections:
There were no stat corrections this week

Final 2015-2016 NFA Standings

1. Arlington Assaulters- 10740 pts (+125)
2. Oww Ming's Flagrants 10525 (+135)
3. Pgastan FC- 9990 (+200)
4. Rodman'sWeddingDress- 9270 (+130)
5. They Call Me Gamblor- 8880 (+205)
6. Baltimore Hitsquad- 8635 (+110)
7. F'N FLOPPERS 8455 (+75)
8. Ohsnappers!!!- 8170 (+70)

As I predicted in my last post on Monday (though it was very likely it would happen) the standings did not change. Ohsnappers!!! only put up 70 points and finishes off a dismal season well in the cellar. F'N FLOPPERS did not fair that well in the final three days either, only putting up 75 points, and his team faded away during the 2nd half of the season and he finishes the season in 7th place.

Baltimore Hitsquad came out of the cellar a few weeks ago and managed to stay up as he put up 110 points in the final 3 days but stays in 6th place. A nice rebound for the Hitsquad, maybe he can finish in the top 3 next season. They Call Me Gamblor had a great 3-day week by putting up 205 points, but he would stay in 5th place.

Rodman'sWeddingDress, the defending NFA Champion put up 130 points this week but was too far behind to trophy. Pgastan Foul Club completes a remarkable turn around after firing their GM on November 17th and hiring Nick Nalkin a few days later. On November 17th, PFC was actually in 7th place. To finish the season in 3rd place is an excellent result, surely they will be aiming for a title next year. Does this mean there is a place for analytics in NFA? Only time will tell.

Oww Ming's Flagrants was unable to catch Arlington Assaulters for the title as he only put up 135 points this week despite having DeMarcus Cousins. Again, Arlington Assautlers remains the only team to have ever won a title without Cousins or Dwight Howard. He put up 125 points this week and finishes off an almost wire-to-wire run (He was 25 points behind 1st place after week 1, took the lead in week 2 and never looked back).

Team Foul Stats
Looking at the full standings let's look at the team leaders in each category as well as total fouls in the NFA:

Personal Fouls
Total: 10,909
Leader: Arlington Assaulters with 1,480 (13.5% of all fouls in the NFA)
Low: Baltimore Hitsquad with 1195 (11% share)

Foul Outs
Total: 78
Leader: Oww Ming's Flagrants with 18 (23% of all foul outs in the NFA)
Low: Rodman'sWeddingDress with 6 (7.7% share)

Technical Fouls
Total: 260
Leader: Oww Ming's Flagrants with 46 (17.6% of all techies in the NFA)
Low: Ohsnappers!!! with 11 (4.2% share)

Flagrant Fouls
Total: 38
Leader: Arlington Assaulters with 9 (23.7% of all flagrant's in the NFA)
Low: Oww Ming's Flagrants with 1 (2.6% share)

Ejections
Total: 20
Leader: Rodman'sWeddingDress and Pgastan FC with 4 (each had a 20% share of all ejections in the NFA)
Low: Ohsnappers!!! with 0 (0% share)

I noticed in the past some teams would have over 60 techies in a season. Does this mean there are less fouls in the NFA or are managers getting smarter so it's harder for one team to hoard a bunch of performance fouls. It looks like PFC holds the record for most techies in a season with 60 (2012-2013 season). It's hard to see any trends as NFA has not always had 8 teams. Can really only compare to last year as we have the same managers from last year this year.

NFA Titles:
Rodman'sWeddingDress 3 - 2010-2011, 2011-2012, 2014-2015
Pgastan FC (formerly Donkey Engine and Steam Donkey FC) 2 -  2009-2010 and 2012-2013
Arlington Assaulters 2- 2013-2014 and 2015-2016

Week 24 Roundup: Tommy Tutone Edition

So it has come to this, the final 3 days of the National Foul Association. I was going to call this post "Final 3 Days Edition" but then I saw They Call Me Gamblor's score so had to change it.

Stat Corrections
- There were no stat corrections this week

Standings as of April 11, 2016

1. Arlington Assaulters- 10615 pts (+280)
2. Oww Ming's Flagrants 10390 (+425)
3. Pgastan FC- 9790 (+415)
4. Rodman'sWeddingDress- 9140 (+395)
5. They Call Me Gamblor- 8675 (+310)
6. Baltimore Hitsquad- 8525 (+245)
7. F'N FLOPPERS 8380 (+285)
8. Ohsnappers!!!- 8100 (+315)

Ohsnappers!!! put up an average 315 points but remains in last place. F'N FLOPPERS had a por week only putting up 285 points, but remains in 7th place. Baltimore Hitsquad also had a poor week, in fact the worst week in the league, by only putting up 245 points and remains in 6th place. He is 150 points behind 5th place with 3 days to go, can he make it from 8th place from the majority of the season to 5th? They Call Me Gamblor decided to give a shoutout to Tommy Tutone this week after an average week of 310 points results in him have 8675 total points.

As for the top half of the standings, Rodman'sWeddingDress put up 395 points this week but remains in 4th place, 650 points behind Pgastan Foul Club. PFC put up 415 points and remains in 3rd place. Oww Ming's Flagrants put up 425 points this week and was able to gain on Arlington Assaulters as he is now only 225 points behind 1st. Arlington Assaulters put up 280 points and remains in 1st place.

Is there enough time for time for Baltimore Hitsquad to catch 5th place? Is there enough time for Oww Ming's Flagrants to catch Arlington Assaulters and pull off an incredible comeback? Those are basically the only races left as of now. Pgastan FC is 650 points up on Rodman'sWeddingDress and it's hard to put up that many points in a 7-day week let alone a short 3-day week that we have now. I suppose, 6th, 7th, and 8th could potentially swap places if one of the teams has a huge 3 days but it's got to be unlikely. The most likely outcome come Thursday is that there were no changes in the standings.

In fact Pgastan FC is 600 points behind Oww Ming's Flagrants and as mentioned above, PFC is 650 points ahead of Rodman'sWeddingDress, who is 465 points ahead of They Call Me Gamblor, so it is unlikely we will see any movement in the middle of the standings.

Transactions
- Pgastan FC added Isaiah Thomas and dropped John Wall on April 9th
- Arlington Assaulters added Quincy Acy and dropped Tony Allen on April 10th

Well, that's it for now. Come back in a few days to see how the season finished up.

Week 23 Roundup: Penultimate Edition

That's right, it's the last full week of NFA and penultimate weekly roundup (though I guess I'll write a roundup next Monday and the following Thursday to finalize everything . Actually, looking at the blog from last year, I titled the week 23 post the exact same thing, so we'll just go with this). Anyway, let's get to the roundup.

Stat Corrections
- There were no stat corrections this wek

Standings as of April 4, 2016

1. Arlington Assaulters- 10335 pts (+455)
2. Oww Ming's Flagrants 9965 (+445)
3. Pgastan FC- 9375 (+475)
4. Rodman'sWeddingDress- 8745 (+440)
5. They Call Me Gamblor- 8365 (+350)
6. Baltimore Hitsquad- 8280 (+335)
7. F'N FLOPPERS 8095 (+235)
8. Ohsnappers!!!- 7785 (+260)

Ohsnappers!!! put up a paltry 260 points and remains in last place, not likely to break out of the cellar in 9 days so most likely will finish there. However, 260 points was not the worst weekly total, that distinction goes to F'N FLOPPERS who put up 235 points for the 2nd consecutive week. Though, that was enough for him to join the 8000 point club. Baltimore Hitsquad put up an average week of 335 points but remains in 6th place. They Call Me Gamblor scored 350 points and remains in 5th place. The 3-way duel between 7th, 6th, and 5th is not as close as it was a few weeks ago, mainly with F'N FLOPPERS falling further behind 6th. Though the duel for 5th is still very much alive.

Now for the top half of the standings. Rodman'sWeddingDress had a nice great week by putting up 440 points but remains in 4th place. In fact, he did not gain on 3rd at all as Pgastan Foul Club also had a great week by putting up 475 points. PFC's lead for the bronze trophy is 630 points. Can PFC hold on for the trophy?

For the top 2, Oww Ming's Falgrants had cut Arlington Assaulters lead down to a mere 100 points early in the week but ultimately Arlington Assaulters gained 10 points on OMF this week. OMF had a great week of 445 points, but AA had an just a little better week by putting up 455 points.

Transactions
- F'N FLOPPERS added Zaza Pachulia and dropped Omri Casspi on April 2nd
- Arlington Assaulters dropped Brook Lopez on April 3rd
- Pgastan FC dropped Jerami Grant on April 3rd
- F'N FLOPPERS added Marvin Williams and dropped Nerlens Noel on April 3rd
- F'N FLOPPERS added Toney Douglas and dropped Thaddeus Young on April 3rd

Points Graph
Decided to throw in a points graph this week and then I will post the final points graph on my NFA 2015-2016 season review post

Week 22 Roundup: Crab People Edition

Well, kind of forgot about writing this until now, so let's get right to it.

Stat Corrections
- Kevin Love had a techy taken away form him retroactive to March 7. No team had him so this does not affect standings.

Standings as of March 28, 2016

1. Arlington Assaulters- 9880 pts (+480)
2. Oww Ming's Flagrants 9520 (+490)
3. Pgastan FC- 8900 (+490)
4. Rodman'sWeddingDress- 8305 (+360)
5. They Call Me Gamblor- 8015 (+340)
6. Baltimore Hitsquad- 7945 (+370)
7. F'N FLOPPERS 7860 (+235)
8. Ohsnappers!!!- 7525 (+420)

Well, Ohsnappers remains at the bottom after scoring 420 points. However, he was able to gain on now 7th place, F'N FLOPPERS< who only put up 235 points. Baltimore Hitsquad benefited from the poor week by F'N FLOPPERS and was able to pass him in the standings with a 370 point week. They Call Me Gamblor put up 340 points and remains in 5th place, but is only 70 points ahead of 6th. 4th place, Rodman'sWeddingDress is now 290 points ahead of 5th after a 360 point week. Pgastan Foul Club was able to gain 130 on Rodman'sWeddingDress with a 490 point week. However, he was unable to gain on Oww Ming's Flagrants who also put up 490 points. Amazingly, Arlington Assaulters essentially kept pace with the top 3 by putting up 480 points and is 360 points up on 2nd with 17 days left in the season. This is gonna be a fun title race when it looked like Arlington Assaulters was going to run away with this title just a few weeks ago.

Transactions
- Arlington Assaulters added Gorgui Dieng and dropped Kenneth Faried on March 23rd
- Oww Ming's Flagrants added Taj Gibson and dropped Isaiah Thomas on March 24th
- Baltimore Hitsquad added DeMar DeRozan and dropped Mario Chalmers on March 26th

Well that's it for now
